Carl Barnard Dowe, 77, of Virginia Beach, Va., father of Charles Lindsay
Dowe of Clarksville, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999.
He was a native of Norfolk, Va., son of the late Charlie Peterson and
Edith Barnard Dowe, 1937 graduate of Portlock High School and a 1947 graduate
of Duke University. He was a retired vice president of the Die and Cast
Division of Anchor Post Products Inc., World War II veteran of the United
States Navy, and member of Sandbridge Community Chapel of the United Methodist
Church in Virginia Beach, Va.
Other survivors include his widow, Mrs. Madge (Margie) Baker Dowe; one
daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and James J. Lynch of Burlington, Vt.;
and two grandchildren, Cody Alexander Dowe and Cory Taylor Dowe, both of
Clarksville.
Graveside services and burial were at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at
Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Stephen D. Hays officiating. Arrangements
were under the direction of Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel,
Virginia Beach, Va.

Mrs. Edna Jane Seeman, 87, of Lamar died Wednesday, March 10, 1999,
at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of the Holman Freewill Baptist Church, widow of Ed
Seeman, daughter of the late Tom and Ada Pellham Cowell, and was preceded
in death by one daughter, Juanita Reynolds Henry.
She is survived by two daughters, Arvetta Turner of Lamar and Murle
Thomas of Seattle, Wash.; two sisters, Gladys Smith of West Fork and Velma
Hamrick of Blue Lake, Calif.; two brothers, Hays Colvin of Sacramento,
Calif., and Ward Colvin of San Pablo, Calif.; four grandchildren, Billie
Henry of Lamar, Danny Turner of Dardanelle, Shirley Russell of Fort Smith,
and Belinda Shannon of Livingston, Mont.; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Bob Chronister officiating. Burial was in Holman Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bub Pearson, Junior Manns, David Smith, Calvin Smith, Kenneth Smith, and Jimmy Don Jones.
Mrs. Hettie Keith, 81, of Lamar died Friday, March 12, 1999, at Johnson
Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of the Holman Freewill Baptist Church and daughter
of the late Truman and Luevannie Thomas Alcorn.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin Keith; two sons, Edward Keith and
Allen Keith, both of Clarksville; one sister, Jewell Watt of Bristow, Okla.;
four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, March 15, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Holman Cemetery.

John C. Phillips, 74, of Clarksville died Monday, March 15, 1999, at
his home.
He was a native of Hunt, son of the late Millard and May Nard Phillips,
retired employee of Form-All in Knoxville, Baptist, Navy World War II veteran,
and was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Phillips.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and Darril Hunt
of Clarksville; one son and daughter-in-law, Harold D. and Brenda Phillips
of Clarksville; three sisters, Ora Phillips of Hartman, Alta Gains of Ozark,
and Syble Allen of Hartman; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Liberty Hill Church
with Rev. Ira Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery
at Hunt.
Active pallbearers will be Johnny Little, Carroll Sherrell, Lester Belt,
Allen Buskill, Larry Huff, and Walley Marler.

Lawrence Eugene (Larry) Park, 86, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999, in Daytona
Beach, Fla.
A native of Clarksville, he was a son of the late Eugene and Mattie
Park, Navy veteran, attended The College of the Ozarks, and was a retired
safety engineer with the Maryland Casualty Company in Baltimore, Md.
He moved to Florida in 1990, where he was an active member of the Ormond
Beach Alliance Church, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 84, American
Veterans Post 500, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1263, Oceanside Rotary
Club, Daytona Beach Clodbusters Men's Choral Group, and the board of directors
and treasurer for Windsor Apartments.
He is survived by one daughter, Lynda Gene Willing; one son, David E.
Park; one brother, George Park of Quitman; three sisters, Florence Park
of Quitman, Mary Hooten of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Louise Shaw of Noblesville,
Ind.; six grandchildren, Steven Willing, Scott Willing, Dr. Karen Boone,
Kristine Tilghman, David K. Park, and Wendy Geist; two great-grandchildren,
Sydney Boone and Kaeli Tilghman; and numerous cousins.
Memorial services were conducted at the Ormand Beach Church on Feb.
8, and at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Baltimore, Md., on Feb.
26. Interment was in Maryland.

Levon Yates, 62, died March 6, 1999, at Mound City, Kan.
He was a native of Red Star, son of the late Luster and Jeanetta Dixon
Yates, attended Oark High School, moved to Missouri in the 1950s where
he began farming, coached little league baseball teams, served in the United
States Air Force, and was a 37-year employee of General Motors Leeds Plant
in Kansas City, Mo., where he retired in 1991. After retirement he became
involved in the woodcutting business and also began employment for Gepford
Farms in Adrian, Mo., in 1995. He was preceded in death by seven siblings.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Patsy Loriane Todd Yates; three sons
and daughters-in-law, Randy and DeeDee Yates, Troy and Mary Beth Yates,
and Monty and Brenda Yates, all of Adrian, Mo.; four siblings, Roy Dale
Yates of Archie, Mo., Lee Yates of Richmond, Calif., Iva Embry of Fort
Smith, and Alice Miller of Seminole, Okla.; four grandchildren, Joshua,
Chelsey, Dannielle and Alyxandria, all of Adrian, Mo.; and numerous nieces,
nephews, and cousins.
Funeral was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, at Atkinson Funeral
Home Chapel in Adrian, Mo., with Rev. Robert Colston of the First Baptist
Church officiating. Burial was in the Crescent Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Junior Grosshart, Jim Talley, Bill Darr, Dick Dickerson, Gary Ford, and Larry Cook.
Russell Anthony (Babe) Hilton, 43, of Clarksville died Monday, March
15, 1999, at his home.
A native of Clarksville, he was a member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic
Church, employee of GTE Telephone Company, and grandson of the late Bertha
and Charlie Hilton Sr. and George Velte.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Teresa Hilton; two daughters, April
Knee of Lamar and Naja Hilton of Clarksville; parents, E. Russell and Georgia
Hilton of Clarksville; one sister, Francie Kenner of Clarksville; one brother,
Mark Hilton of Clarksville; one grandchild, Tyler Williams of Lamar; grandmother,
Mrs. Beatrice Velte of Clarksville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Oliver
and Bobbie Sexton of Lamar; two nieces and two nephews, Christie Einert,
Kimberly Kenner, Jimmy Phillips, and Jordan Phillips, all of Clarksville.

Troy Edward Brown, 82, of Clarksville died Friday, March 12, 1999, at
Arkansas Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
A native of Clarksville, he was a son of the late Johnny and Lillie
Patty Brown, World War II Army veteran, and retired from truck equipment
sales.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ann Hanshew Brown; one daughter, Patricia
Brown of Fayetteville; one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Sherrie
Brown of Russellville; one sister, Bobbie Siegfried of Colorado Springs,
Colo.; two brothers, Hoyle J. Brown of La Puente, Calif., and Doye Brown
of Edmond, Okla.; two grandchildren, Chris Brown and Troy Brown, both of
Russellville; and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wanetta B. Hays, 75, of Van Buren died Wednesday, March 10, 1999,
in Van Buren.
She was a daughter of the late Guy R. and Nellie Morris Ralstin, widow
of Hurley Hays, former resident of Coal Hill, and a Pentecostal. She was
preceded in death by one son, Doyle Hays.
She is survived by three daughters, Virginia Phillips of Muldrow, Okla.,
Barbara Harris of Van Buren, and Linda Michelmann of Coal Hill; six sons,
Jim Hays and Gary Lee Hays, both of Fort Smith, David Gene Hays of Idaho
Falls, Idaho, Lester Ray Hays of San Diego, Calif., Paul Hays of Van Buren,
and Ronnie Hays of Alma; one brother, Richard Raymond Ralstin; 28 grandchildren;
and 33 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, March 12, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. Gary Hays officiating. Burial was in Hays Chapel Cemetery.

W. W. Simpson of Tulsa, Okla., died Saturday, March 13, 1999.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Genevieve Clark Simpson, a former
resident of Johnson County; one son, Dr. Bobby Joe Simpson of St. Louis,
Mo.; one grandson; and one granddaughter.
Burial was Tuesday, March 16, at Eastlawn Memorial in Tulsa, Okla.
