Jack L. Pittman, 73, of Hermitage, Tenn., died Thursday, July 15, 2004,
at his home.
He was a former resident of Clarksville, where he was a member of
Oakland Street Church and the American Legion, and was employed as a
maintenance engineer at Clarksville Footwear.
He was a native of Chester, Ill., son of the late John Irvin and Roxie
Ellen Tindall Pittman, Army veteran, and was preceded in death by one
brother, Ronald Pittman.
Survivors include his widow, Barbara Jean Riddle Pittman; two sons and
daughters-in-law, Michael Lee and Nancy Pittman of Nashville, Tenn.,
and Ronald Scott and Mickie Pittman of Leesville, La.; stepfather,
George Layne of Murphysboro, Ill.; two sisters and brothers-in-law,
Beverly and Delaine Edwards and Sue and Terry Givens, all of
Murphysboro, Ill.; and one grandchild, Marshall Lee Pittman.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at the Ebenezer Presbyterian
Church in Rockwood, Ill., with Rev. Frank Vorhees Jr. officiating.
Interment was in Ebenezer Cemetery in Rockwood, Ill.
Lois F. Blackard, 91, of Clarksville died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, in
Clarksville.
She was a native of Fannin County, Texas, member of First Baptist
Church of Fort Smith, former owner of the Village Dress Shop in
Clarksville and was the widow of Ethel Blackard, who was Johnson County
Sheriff from 1951-1956.
She is survived by two daughters, Delores Wagoner of Clarksville and
Shirley Crowley of Catoosa, Okla.; one son, Bob Blackard of
Clarksville; three sisters, Amalea James of Barling, Betty Hudson of
Farmington, and Mary Lunney of Fort Smith; ten grandchildren; 15
great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 3 p.m. Friday, July 16, at the Cherry Street Baptist
Church in Clarksville with Rev. Rusty Bushong officiating.
Burial was in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral
Chapel of Fort Smith.
Lucile Janet Mednick, 73, of Scranton died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at
Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was employed as a consultant with the Lockheed Corporation, a
member of the Lions Club, daughter of the late Leland and Mary Nelson
Crozier, and was preceded in death by one son, Jim Wohlford.
Survivors include her husband, H. Eric Mednick; seven daughters, Diane
McCloud of San Francisco, Calif., Patricia McCloud of Petaluma, Calif.,
Katherine McCloud and Leslie Wohlford, both of Sunnyville, Calif.,
Angela Wohlford of Nevada, Holly Wohlford of San Jose, Calif., and Joy
Siemens of Scranton; four sons, Michael McCloud of Scranton, Terry
Allen Mednick of New Hampshire, Marty Mednick of Palo Lato, Calif., and
Randy Charles Mednick of Clearwater, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
A private cremation service will be held.
Raymond D. Patton, 83, of Little Rock, formerly of Clarksville, died
Saturday, July 17, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in
Little Rock.
A native of Hunt, he was a son of the late Elet and Mary L. Callahan
Patton, member of East Mount Zion Trinity Baptist Church, retired
farmer and carpenter, and was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret
Patton.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Frieda
Patton of Little Rock, Kenneth and Kathy Patton of Clarksville, and
Terry and Denise Patton of London; one sister, Mary Rusher of Lamar;
six grandchildren, Jason Patton, Desarae Holland, Bart Patton, Leigh
Pruss, Tara Patton, and Raeann Meier; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel
with Rev. Robbie Jackson officiating. Burial was in Stillwell Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Keith Holland, Mike Hard, Frank Patton, Jason
Patton, Charles Beavers, and Aaron Meier.
Doyle A. Sparks
Doyle Arvin Sparks, 82, of Lamar died Monday, July 19, 2004, at River
Valley Kidney Center in Russellville.
He was a member of the Lamar Methodist Church, Army veteran, son of the
late James and Nora E. Pruit Sparks, and was preceded in death by his
wife, Georgia Evelyn Sparks.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and James Tate of
Lamar; four sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Nancy Sparks, Gary
and Ann Sparks, and Kevin and Brandy Sparks, all of Lamar, and Dr.
Danny and Jennifer Aquilar of Russellville; one sister, Wilma Martin of
Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Delmar Sparks of Vancouver, Wash.; eight
grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, at Lamar Methodist Church.
Burial will be at Lamar Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox
Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Tim Sparks, Todd Sparks, David Chavers, Shane
Sparks, Jason Sparks, and Terry Paul Chavers.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Roller-Cox
Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Lamar Methodist Church or Johnson County Girls
Club.
