Curtis Jerome Ryals, 52, of Marianna, Fla., died Monday, June 21, 2004,
in Cypress, Fla.
He was a former resident of Clarksville, member of the Westside Full
Gospel Church of Clarksville, native of Marianna, Fla., son of the late
Melton and Thelma Henderson Ryals, retired 20-year U. S. Army veteran,
and a supervisor of lawn care with Jackson County Association for
Retarded Citizens. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Gene
Ryals.
Survivors include his widow, Barbara Bliss Ryals; two sons and
daughters-in-law, Brandon and April Ryals of Nashville, Tenn., and Paul
Curtis and Tonia Ryals of Russellville; one daughter and son-in-law,
Lori W. and James Horn of Statesville, N. C.; one stepdaughter, Emily
Bedsole of Swanton, Ohio; two brothers, Melton Ryals and Paul Ryals of
Marianna, Fla.; four sisters, Kate Bass, Linda Sterrett, and Pauline
Johnson, all of Marianna, Fla., and Nora Dobbs of Graceville, Fla.; and
four grandchildren, Imari and Bethany Ryals and Katarina and Dylan Horn.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at Maddox Chapel with Sister
Doris Dean and Rev. Noland Kent officiating.
Colleen Hurst Williams, 68, died Sunday, July 4, 2004, at her home in
Fort Smith.
She was a daughter of the late J. B. and Thelma Hurst, widow of James
A. Williams and Bill Russell, member of Immaculate Conception Catholic
Church, Democratic Women of Sebastian County, Red Hat Society, Arkansas
Chapter of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and the Coal Hill
VFW Post No. 8532 Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Jack Danciu of
Fort Smith; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Donald Ray Williams of
Coal Hill and Micheal E. and Barbara Williams of Fort Smith; one
sister, Mary Anne Shula of Miami Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Charles
Hurst of Tulsa, Okla., and Jim Hurst of Coal Hill; five grandchildren,
Andrea Williams, Joe Casanova, Liz Casanova, Jonathan Danciu and
Jennifer Vichitvongsa; and three great-grandchildren, Timmy, Lexie and
Paige.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. at
Hess Cemetery near Coal Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of
Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Active pallbearers will be John M. Smith Jr., Jim Stephens, Brett
Keller, Charles Hurst, Walter Echols and Steve Nicholas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Don Shula and Don Langston.
Radnia Dianne Spicer Phillips, 45, of Paris, mother of Rene Phillips of
Clarksville, died Monday, June 28, 2004, from injuries sustained in a
traffic accident in Paris.
She was employed as a nurse's aide at Mercy Hospital/Turner Memorial in
Ozark and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church
at Crossroads.
Survivors include her husband, Luke Phillips; one other daughter, Anita
Phillips of Paris; father, C. W. Spicer of Paris; one sister, Mar-
sha Mitchell of Paris; one brother, James Spicer of Paris; and one
grandson, Mason Phillips.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at the Pleasant Hill Missionary
Baptist Church with burial at McKendree Cemetery north of Subiaco.
Arrangements were under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
Elsie Conley, 79, of Booker, Texas, whose son and daughter-in-law, Bill
and Laura Conley, reside in Clarksville, died Thursday, July 1, 2004,
at Northwest Texas Health Care System in Amarillo, Texas.
She was a native of Perryton, Texas, daughter of the late Leonard and
Olga Koch Littau, attended the University of Texas in Austin, member of
the United Church of God, and due to taking food to the prisoners, she
became the first woman deputy in the state of Texas. She was preceded
in death by one sister, Lorine Williams.
Other survivors include her husband, Elmer Conley; four daughters and
sons-in-law, Patricia and Rodney Forrest of Gilmer, Texas, Donna and
Alec Surratt of Cincinnati, Ohio; Barbara and Guy Burke of Wichita
Falls, Texas, and Ruth and James Roberts of Booker, Texas; one brother,
Albert Littau of Balko, Okla.; two sisters, Dolores Case of Fairfield
Bay and Kathleen Gamez of San Antonio, Texas; 16 grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, at Heart
Cemetery with Guy Burke officiating. Arrangements were under the
direction of Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker, Texas.
Gary (Alaska) Simpson, 64, of Lamar died Monday, July 5, 2004, at
Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired teamster, son of the late Artie and Bessie Marie
Forrester Simpson, and was preceded in death by one sister, Eva Loreen
Simpson, and two brothers, Bill Simpson and Raymond Simpson.
Survivors include his widow, Mary Frances Brown Simpson; one daughter,
Teresa C. Grady of Hartman; five sisters, Kathleen Simpson, Marleen
Mobley and Jeanine Losftis, all of Michigan, Colleen Simpson of Alaska,
and Lois Mick of Illinois; two brothers, James A. Simpson of Alaska and
Bob Simpson of Michigan; and one grandchild, Christina Colleen Grady of
Lamar.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 9, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will be in Lamar
Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Glen Chamberlain, Dale O. Kellison, Ken Childers,
and Ronald (Pete) Rowell.
Kathlene Talkington, 74, of Russellville died Saturday, July 3, 2004,
at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.
A native of Lamar, she was a daughter of the late Bejamin Franklin and
Mary Etta Dodson Overbey, widow of Ottie L. Talkington, former employee
of Morton Frozen Foods (now Con-Agra) in Russellville, former waitress
for several area restaurants, and member of the 5th and Greenwich
Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Ottie Neal Talkington of Alma and David Lee
Talkington of Dover; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, at
Rest Haven Memorial Park with Harold Davidson officiating. Arrangements
were under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Lovenus L. Latimer, 88, of Clarksville died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at
Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Alvord, Texas, daughter of the late Joseph Walter
and Nettie Freeman Lively, graduate of Texarkana High School in
Texarkana, Texas, member of the First Presbyterian Church and American
Legion Auxiliary, and widow of Philip B. Latimer.
She is survived by one stepniece, Marta Roper of Texas.
Roger Napolean Bolduc, 84, of Clarksville died Thursday, July 1, 2004,
at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
A native of Rhode Island, he was a son of the late Hosea and Azalea
Levecque Bolduc, one of 18 children, Army veteran of World War II,
retired truck driver and mechanic, and was preceded in death by his
wife, Lucille Lyons Bolduc.
He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Joyce Decker and
Mary and Michael McLaughlin, all of California, and Linda and Martin
Beckner of Alaska; four sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Pat
Bolduc of Washington, Joe and Toni Bolduc and Roger and Cindy Bolduc,
all of Clarksville, and Phil and Wini Bolduc of Montana; eight sisters,
Bella Begin, Edna Difilippo, Gabrrelle Ando, Dorothy Giammarco, Teresa
Monfils, Rose Bissonette, Jeanette Mogyzel, and Parmelia Gagnon, all of
Rhode Island; three brothers, Heneri Bolduc, Oscar Bolduc and Edward
Bolduc, all of Rhode Island; 18 grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
