Boyd Austin, 102, of Clarksville died Wednesday, May 5, in Countryside
Manor Nursing Home.
A native of Knoxville, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Eva
Wilson Austin, retired farmer and preceded in death by his wife, Eula
Dillon Austin; two sons, Dewey and Boyd Austin; three daughters, Helen
Lucchetti, Mary West and Faye Iker; two brothers; and four sisters.
He is survived by three daughters, Betty Daniels of Marysville, Wash.,
and Joyce Jenkins and Billie Wilkinson, both of Clarksville; two
sisters, Juanita Arnold of Moore, Okla., and Beatrice Hammonds of Lake
Havasu, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four
great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, May 10, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with
Dr. Robert Brown officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Brian Michael Thompson, 45, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, in Carrollton,
Texas.
He was a native of Clarksville, graduate of Clarksville High School and
the University of Arkansas with a degree in pharmacy and was employed
at Baylor Medical Plaza in Dallas, Texas.
Survivors include his widow, Maria E. Thompson; one son, Michael A.
Thompson; father, Raymond F. Thompson of North Carolina; mother,
Murieline Skaggs of Clarksville; one brother, Brent Thompson of Idaho
Falls, Idaho; one sister, Shari Koch of Scranton; grandmother, Lenora
Thompson of Clarksville; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Charles Norman Martin, 74, of Clarksville died Wednesday, May 5, 2004,
at his home.
He was a retired painter and minister, Army veteran, and son of the
late Jacob Thomas and Velma Elizabeth Conrod Martin.
He is survived by four daughters, Karen Kibler of Homosasa Springs,
Fla., Rebecca Sanders of Harrison, Shana Force of St. Joseph, Mo., and
Shara Martin of Destin, Fla.; two sons, Steve Martin and Samuel Martin
of Clarksville; one sister, Elsie Spencer of Florida; 13 grandchildren;
and one great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev.
Jim Goodman officiating. Burial was in Lone Pine Cemetery.
Cloy Murphy Price, 77, of Dover died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at AMI St.
Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
He was a son of the late Arthur and Bessie Hern Price, native of
Driggs, United States Air Force veteran of World War II, Korean War,
and Vietnam War, a master sergeant and worked in explosive ordinance
destruction. He was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal,
the Occupation Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the Air Force
Longevity Services award with three oak leaf clusters and the Air Force
Commendation Medal. Following his 20-year military career, he was
employed by the United States Postal Service in Russellville, member of
the Rogers Rye Post No. 2283 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Riggs
Hamilton Post of the American Legion and the Disabled American
Veterans, the Pope County Cattlemen's Association and the Dover First
Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was
preceded in death by four brothers, G. C., Troy, Ira and J. A. Price;
and an infant sister.
Survivors include his widow, Jeanette Priebe Price; one son and
daughter-in-law, Dale Ray and Cathy Price of Irvine, Calif.; one
daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jim Bradford of Clarksville; three
brothers, Lewis Price of London, Beauford Price of Russellville and
Cecil Price of Texas; one sister, Parthena Smith of Arizona; five
grandchildren, Samantha Parker of Clarksville, Andrea Smart of Baton
Rouge, La., and Benjamin Price, Chara Dale Price and Nathan Price, all
of Irvine, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren, Brittany, Breanna and
Brooklyn Parker of Clarksville.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, May 10, at the First Baptist Church of
Dover with Rev. Jeff Paxton officiating.
Burial was in East Point Cemetery at Russellville under the direction
of Humphrey Funeral Service.

Dr. Shane Parker.

Clara M. Smith, 73, of Ozark, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at her home.
She was a native of Coal Hill, daughter of the late Gus and Elizabeth
O'Brien Hurst, city clerk for the city of Ozark for 28 years, member of
St. Mary's Catholic Church, and was preceded in death by one daughter,
Monica Kaye Smith.
Survivors include her husband, L. B. Smith; one daughter, Frances Lane
Smith of Ozark; one son, Gary William Smith of Ozark; four sisters,
Augusta Williams of Chouteau, Okla., Martha Lovette of Catoosa, Okla.,
Wilma Walker of Coal Hill, and Frances Barros of Owasso, Okla.; two
brothers, Lawrence Hurst of Tulsa, Okla., and Leon Hurst of Locust
Grove, Okla.; two grandchildren, Leigh Anne Smith and William
Christopher Smith, both of Ozark; and two great-grandchildren,
Christopher Elijah Smith and Madison Dawn Smith, both of Ozark.
Rosary was at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at Shaffer Funeral Home. Funeral
was at 10 a.m. Friday, May 7, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father
Hilary Filiatreau, O.S.B., officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery
at Ozark.

Faye Elizebeth Morrow, 89, of El Dorado, formerly of Hartman, died
Friday, May 7, 2004, at Oak Ridge Nursing Home in El Dorado.
She was a Baptist, daughter of the late James M. and Nancy Kesterson
Lee, and widow of Porter Lee Morrow.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Stevens of Camden and Vera
Hardin of Texas; one son, Walter Hamm of Mississippi; one brother,
Sonny Lee of Little Rock; and numerous grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Harl Robert Griffith Sr., 97, of Russellville died Sunday, May 9, 2004,
at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
A native of Coal Hill, he was a son of the late Robert and Martha Jane
Quillin Griffith, graduate of the University of the Ozarks, coal mine
operator and retired state mine inspector for the state of Arkansas,
member of the 16th Street Church of Christ in Russellville, and was
preceded in death by his wife, Koy V. Griffith.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harl
(Elaine) Griffith Jr. of Russellville; one daughter and son-in-law,
Jane G. and Chuck Freeman of Rogers; five grandchildren and spouses,
Terri and Jim Knight of Russellville, Tommy and Patricia Griffith of
Cheyenne, Wyo., Kelly Hearn of Lees Summit, Mo., Shelly Thompson of
Lenexa, Kan., and Tiffany Teis of Tulsa, Okla.; and nine
great-grandchildren.
Junior Thomas Cummins, 63, of Ozone died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at
Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a carpenter, son of the late Thomas Cummins, and was preceded in
death by one sister, Peggy Stepp; and two brothers, Ervin Cummins and
Clarence Cummins.
Survivors include his widow, Evelyn Reynolds Cummins; two daughters and
one son-in-law, Jessica and Lee Sams of Ozone and Sherry Cummins of the
home; one son, Steven Cummins of the home; mother, Rosie Cummins of
Ozone; four sisters, Ruby Morgan of Coal Hill, Edna Bean of Ozone,
Darlene Stepp of Clarksville and Barbara Hogue of Hartman; two
brothers, Paul Cummins and James Cummins, both of Ozone; two
grandchildren, Logan Sams and Josie Sams, both of Ozone; and numerous
nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cemetery.

Jay W. Long, 70, of Yuba City, Calif., father of Mark Long of Lamar,
died April 13, 2004, in Yuba City, Calif.
He was a native of Warner, Okla., served in the U. S. Navy and was
employed in civil service for ten years and as a warehouseman for
several years. He was preceded in death by two brothers and seven
sisters.
Survivors include his companion, Allie Mae Marler of Yuba City, Calif.;
one daughter, Deborah Gill of Mountainburg; two other sons, Rick Long
of Mountainburg and Timothy Long of Lincoln; one brother, Herbert Long
of Yuba City, Calif.; two sisters, Sue Engman and Essie Fielden, both
of Ukiah, Calif.; 15 grandchildren including Mark Long of Spadra, Jacob
Long of Lamar and Destiny Jedrysek of Knoxville; and 13
great-grandchildren.
Lorene Casey, 87, of Krum, Texas, sister of Marcie Martin of
Clarksville, died Monday, May 3, 2004, in Krum, Texas.
She was a native of the Minnow Creek Community, daughter of the late
Stanley and Emma Matthews, widow of Denver Casey, and member of the
Church of Christ.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Denver and Cliff
Vinsonhaler of Chico, Calif., and Joyce and Don Killough of Krum,
Texas; one brother, Arch Matthews of Brazoria, Texas; one other sister,
Ila Ellis of Ontario, Canada; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nona May Gray, 92, of Fort Smith, sister of Cleman Wilkins of
Clarksville, died Sunday, May 9, 2004, in Fort Smith.
Other survivors include one son, Charles Gray of Warner, Okla.; ten
grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six
great-great-grandchildren.
Ola Lee Ashmore Nordin, 91, of London died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at
Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of London, daughter of the late Wiley Sherman and
Millie Teletha Wilson Ashmore, widow of Rev. James L. (Roy) Nordin and
a lifetime member of the London Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Rev. Wilma and
Marvin Wharton of the Flat Rock Community, Verlan L. Nordin of
Dardanelle, Iva Lee and James Nicholas of Athens, Ala., and Aimee J.
Sudmeyer of Morrilton; six grandchildren, Joddy Whorton, Douglas T.
Lewis, April Tollison, Jason Lewis, Jessie Lewis and Aimee Dawn
Sudmeyer; and four great-grandchildren, Dalton Lewis, Marvin Louis
Whorton, James Whorton and William Tollison.

with Rev. Jerry Schlinker officiating.
Burial was in London City Cemetery under the direction of Shinn Funeral
Service.

Rick Jay Long, 45, of Mountainburg, brother of Mark Long of Lamar, died
Wednesday, May 5, 2004.
He was born in Compton, Calif., to Jay and Shirley Harderson Long, a U.
S. Navy veteran, musician and artist.
Survivors include one son, Ryan Long of Johnson; two daughters, Tezar'e
Long of Johnson and Heather Long of California; one other brother, Tim
Long of Lincoln; one sister, Deborah Gill; and local nephews, Mark Long
of Spadra and Jacob Long of Lamar; and one niece, Destiny Jedrysek of
Knoxville.
Carl D. Chrisman, 52, of Hartman died Monday, May 10, 2004, at St.
Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.
He was a native of Richmond, Calif., graduate of Hartman High School,
U. S. Army veteran, long-time employee of Tyson Foods and was preceded
in death by his paternal grandparents, Charlie and Ora Chrisman and
maternal grandmother, Lorene Marvel.
Survivors include his widow, Marilyn Walters Chrisman; one daughter and
son-in-law, Shelly and Kevin Farmer of Rogers; two sons, Mike Weathers
of San Diego, Calif., and Chad Chrisman of Hartman; parents, Leo and
Babe Chrisman of Hartman; grandfather, Orville Marvel of Hartman; three
sisters and brothers-in-law, Gail and Gary Ireland of Jacksonville
Beach, Fla., Tammy and Bill Scopp of Leawood, Kan., and Angie and Terry

Burial will be in Hartman Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke
Funeral Home.
