Caleb Michael Bean, infant son of Dr. Paul and Shera Bean of Fort
Smith, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, in Fort Smith.
Other survivors include two brothers, Joshua and Zachary Bean, both of
Fort Smith; paternal grandparents, Eddie and Georgia Bean of
Clarksville; maternal grandparents, Jim Heruska and Sharrol Heruska,
both of Gulf Shores, Ala.; maternal great-grandparents, John and Ann
Heruska of Gulf Shores, Ala.; and paternal great-grandmother, Pauline
Reynolds of Clarksville.
Ella Mae Dedmon, 77, of Ozone died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at Johnson
Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Orangeburg County, S. C., daughter of the late
Rubin and Lula Adkens Martin, and widow of Harvey Dedmon.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, William and Sandra
Hardee of Ozone; five grandchildren, William W. Hardee of Florida,
Jason Hardee and Amy Hardee, both of Ozone, Bobbie Magness of
Fayetteville, and Emilee Marteniz of Watts, Okla.; and 12
great-grandchildren.
The body was cremated.
Fred Harry Hollis, 71, of Clarksville died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at
his home.
He was a retired employee of Lockheed Missile and Space in Sunnyvale,
Calif., Army veteran of the Korean War and National Guard of
California, and member of the machinist union and the Odd Fellows of
California. He was a son of the late John O. and Rachel Madewell
Hollis, and was preceded in death by eight brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Evey Hollis; one son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Fred (Donna) Hollis of Merridianville,
Ala.; and three grandchildren, James, Josh and Jennifer Hollis of
Merridianville, Ala.
Herman (Snapper) Houston, 89, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Sept. 10,
2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Clarksville, he was a son of the late James G. and Fannie
Mae Murell Houston, Baptist, Navy veteran of World War II, member of
Harmony Masonic Lodge No.433, retired car salesman, and was preceded in
death by his wife, Margaret Hackney Houston.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann Williams and Marilyn Trone, both
of Clarksville; one son, Herman H. Houston of Clarksville; one sister,
Willie Cater of Clarksville; 11 grandchildren; and 14
great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Woodland Baptist Church
with Rev. Michael Sawyer officiating.
Burial was in Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke
Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Scott Houston, Paul Houston, James Trone, Jared Trone,
Jon Williams, and Jeff Dougan.
Jamin Richard Brice, 44, of Fayetteville, father of Jay Brice of
Hartman, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, from injuries sustained in a
traffic accident near Gentry.
He was a native of Dallas, Texas, son of the late Gay Brice, former
resident of Altus, truck driver for Harrison Farms of Springdale and
pastored Church on the Rock in Huntsville.
Survivors include his widow, Laura Brice; one other son, Tyler Brice of
Hindsville; two daughters, Tara Brice of Hindsville and Carrie Brownell
of Ozark, mother, Gertrude Chapman Brice of Altus; two brothers, Dale
Nelson of Springdale and Mike Jones of Altus; and one sister, Janice
Jones of Ozark.
Jeanie Yandell, 50, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003.
She was a secretary for PC Hardware, member of Central Baptist Church
and a choir member.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Yandell; two sons, Lee E. Yandell
and Jackson L. Yandell, both of Fort Smith; parents, Jesse and Betty
Graves of Fort Smith; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Jo
Yandell of Fort Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Judy Graves
of Fort Smith, formerly of Clarksville; sister-in-law and husband,
Sandy and Phillip Finerson of Collierville, Tenn.; brother-in-law and
wife, Steve and Nancy Yandell of Fort Smith; three nieces, Sarah and
Andrea Graves, and Shelly Payton; and three nephews, Scott and Alan
Geren, and Joe Yandell.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Central Baptist Church.
Burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction
of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers were John Earnhart, Don Hill, Ricky Brooks, Neal Hampton,
Lindy Rogers and Sid Johnson.
Naomi Reed Osborne, 86, of Bristol, Va., sister of Mayme Elkins of
Hartman, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, in her home.
She was a daughter of Charles and Martha Reed, widow of Dick Osborne,
active member of the First Christian Church, librarian, and was
preceded in death by two children, Sylvia Dale and Jon Osborne.
Other survivors include two grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
Roger Wayne Greer Sr., 62, of Hartman died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003,
at his home.
He was a trucking company driver trainer, Baptist, and son of the late
Joe Greer.
Survivors include his widow, Fran Shadden Greer; one daughter, Michele
Mancillas of the home; four sons, John Mancillas of the home, and Jay
Greer, Buddy Greer and Barton Greer, all of Texas; mother, Lola Jo
Bailey Guin of Marshall, Texas; two sisters, seven grandchildren; and
one cousin.
A memorial service with military honors was held at 6 p.m. Saturday,
Sept. 13, at the Greer home at Hunt.
Funeral for Robert (Bobby) J. Hugh Kendrick, 68, of Fayetteville, who
died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at Washington Regional Medical Center in
Fayetteville, was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Roller-Cox Chapel
with Rev. Chris Wright officiating. Burial was in Mt. Vernon Cemetery
near Clarksville.
Pallbearers were Josh Sallee, Jordon Theis, Donny Davis, Jason Klein,
and Sgt. Matt Partain.
He was a son of the late James Lacy and Versie Gertrude Jones Kendrick,
Baptist, and a custodian for a janitorial business.
