Ellen Louise Rockhold McBee, 64, of Onalaska, Texas, died May 28, 2003.
She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Rockhold; and one sister,
Survivors include her husband, Wilbur L. McBee; four daughters and sons-in-law,
Dianna and Allen Carpenter of Clarksville, Cindy and Larry Redden of Livingston,
Texas, Debbie and Dennis Twardowski of Houston, Texas, and Tammy and Bobby
Hall of Magnolia, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Linda McBee
of Willis, Texas; mother, Hazel G. Wright of California; one sister, Roberta
(Bobby) Allen of California; one brother, Melvin Rockhold of Illinois; eight
grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Gene A. Basham, 83, of Clarksville died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Johnson
Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Van Buren, son of the late John Harold (Harry) and Lou
Riddle Basham, graduate of Clarksville High School, attended the University
of the Ozarks, and member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served
as custodian for 28 years prior to retiring.
He is survived by one brother, Dr. Robert H. Basham of Clarksville; and
two nieces, Alison Kotarek of Greenwood and Jan Thompson of Fayetteville.
Funeral was at 3 p.m. Friday, May 30, at the First Presbyterian Church
with Rev. Lance Jones officiating.
James Lawrence Dorney, 70, of Hartman died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Mercy
Hospital/Turner Memorial in Ozark.
He was born at Hartman to Tom and Lula Scroggins Dorney, superintendent
for the city of Hartman Water Department, Protestant, Army veteran of the
Korean War, Westside High School board member, and 32nd degree Mason at Hartman
Survivors include his widow, Katherine Nichols Dorney; three daughters,
Karen Carlisle of Altus and Kimberley Moore and Linda Hassis, both of Hartman,
one sister, Martha Chavers of Knoxville; one brother, Tom Dorney of Hartman;
five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The body was cremated.
Rev. Jewell G. Taylor, 93, of Clarksville died Friday, May 30, 2003,
at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late William and Mary
Mason Wise, retired minister, and a member of the First Assembly of God Church
Survivors include two sons, Douglas Taylor of Clifton, Colo., and Pat
Taylor of Clarksville; five grandchildren, Vernon Taylor, Sharon McMillon,
Brenda Robinson, Becky Dalton and Rusty Taylor, all of Clarksville; seven
great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, June 2, at the First Assembly of God Church
in Clarksville with Rev. Terry Cameron and Rev. Dade Kindrix officiating.
Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral
Landen Laurance Moss, infant son of Cameron Moss and Heather Laughter
Keech of Hartman, died Friday, May 30, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
Other survivors include two brothers, Cameron Keech of the home and Nathan
Moss of Ozark; and grandparents, Elsie Plante of Altus, Steve Laughter of
Springdale, and Edna Earp of Dardanelle.
Mary Jim McClellan Maxwell, 86, of Ozark died Monday, May 26, 2003, at
Ozark Nursing Home.
A native of Ozark, she was a daughter of the late James L. and Sarah Linda
Campbell McClellan, widow of Leon Maxwell, and member of Enon Primitive Baptist
Church in Ozark.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Johnny and Carol Maxwell
of Ozone and Jimmy Maxwell of North Little Rock; five grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Friday, May 30, at Highland Cemetery
with James Isaac, Jeremy Maxwell and Jimmy Maxwell officiating. Arrangements
were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
Robert J. Diehl, 76, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, in Callahan, Fla.
He was born in Garfield, N. J., spent most of his life in Hollywood, Fla.,
and had resided in Knoxville the past 12 years. He was a retired sergeant
from the Broward County Sheriff's Office and served in the Navy in World War

three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Kenny Stahlin, Darlene and Jack
LaDow, and Robyn and Bobby Mixson; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
