Arch D. Conway, 98, of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., formerly of Johnson
County, died Dec. 29, 2001.
He was a native of Coal Hill and a retired lumber estimator and teacher.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Arch D. and Barbara Conway
of Big Bear Lake, Calif.; one daugher and son-in-law, Ann and Bill Wells
of Orange, Calif.; one sister, Alberta Hopkins of Clarksville; eight grandchildren;
and 15 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Jan. 7 at the First Presbyterian Church of San Pedro, Calif. Interment was in Green Hills Memorial Park.
David Arnold, 50, of London died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Johnson Regional
Medical Center.
Survivors include his widow, Lana Arnold; three sons, David Don Arnold
and Mark Wayne Arnold, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., and James Scott Arnold
of London; mother, Ruby Hyde of Altus; three sisters, Alice Hill and Linda
Arnold, both of Ozark, and Shirley Stout of Alix; and two brothers, Floyd
Arnold of Ozark and Jimmy Arnold of Bartlesville, Okla.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Shaffer Funeral Home
with burial in the Belt Cemetery at Ozark.
Pallbearers will be Albert Nichols, Jim Marlow, Mark Hilton, Mike Bowles, Bill McCarley, and Marlon Middleton.
Ida Lorene Yates, 76, of Hartman died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at her
home.
She was a daughter of the late Wiley and Elsie Timmons.
Survivors include her husband, Oren L. Yates; one son, Ted Yates of
Hartman; six sisters, Rosalee McSperitt of Calif., Irene McSperitt of Arkansas,
Mary Jett of Texas, Betty Ward, Jane Robertson and Francis Parr, all of
Oklahoma; six brothers, Loland, Willard, Joe and Herchel Timmons, all of
Oklahoma and Delbert and Leonard Timmons, both of California; 10 grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. The body was cremated.
Karen Alana Newton Bean, 49, of Ola died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Ola.
She was a former resident of Clarksville, daughter of the late Frank
I. Newton, and a reading recovery teacher at Ola Public Schools.
Survivors include her husband, Don L. Bean; one daughter, Alana Nicole
Pattermann of the home; one son, Matthew Logan Pattermann of the home;
one grandson, Rocky Gist Jr. of Ola; mother, Mary Burch Newton of Hunt;
one sister, Metta Holman of Clarksville; one brother, Jon Newton of Clarksville;
one nephew, Shawn Newton of Clarksville; one niece, Amber Holman of Clarksville;
and one aunt, Ruby Wirth of Fulton, Ill.
Private graveside services and burial were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Lillian Werner Coor, 93, of Clarksville died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002,
at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Staples, Minn., she was a daughter of the late John H. and
Josephine Werner, widow of J. W. (Pete) Coor, graduate of St. Scholastica
Academy and St. Vincent School of Nursing, member of Holy Redeemer Catholic
Church, past president of the Christian Mothers Society and a life-time
member of the National Catholic Women's Union. She was preceded in death
by three brothers, John Werner Jr., Francis Werner, and Louis Werner; twin
sister, Laverne Werner; and stepmother, Bernadine Werner.
She is survived by three sisters, Mildred Huhner of Litchfield, Minn.,
and Josephine Werner and Mary Lorfing, both of Clarksville; and two brothers,
W. L. (Bill) Werner of Little Rock and Bernard Werner of Clarksville.
Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Hardwicke Funeral
Chapel. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Holy Redeemer
Catholic Church with Father William Wewers officiating. Burial will be
in Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bob Werner, Chuck Lorfing, Tom Werner, Steve Werner, Michael Werner, and John Werner.
Lula May Clark, 71, of Clarksville died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at Johnson
Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Flint, Mich.
Survivors include her husband, John Clark Sr.; one daughter, Dorothy
Wollard of Clarksville; two sons, John Clark Jr. of Clarksville and Wayne
Wollard of Hawaii; one sister, Barbara Baker of Georgia; and two brothers,
Charles Irish and James Irish, both of Florida.
The body was donated to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Lucinda Pitts, 96, of Lamar died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at Johnson
Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of the Strawberry Assembly of God Church, daughter
of the late Dee and Cora Ann Freeman Galentine, widow of Owen Ezra Pitts,
and was preceded in death by one daughter, Almeta Pitts; one son, Arthur
Pitts; one sister, Mable Pitts; and two brothers, Dee Gover Galentine and
Ralph Hillard Galentine.
Survivors include two daughters, Marvalene Handley and Marcelene Pitts,
both of Lamar; one sister, Clara Lievsay of Russellville; one brother and
four sisters-in-law, Willis and Rosa Galentine of Lamar, Lorene Parks of
Alma, Lucille Galentine of Lamar and Ola Steerman of California; three
stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Strawberry Assembly
of God Church with Rev. George Willis and Rev. C. L. Haston officiating.
Burial was in Minnow Creek Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox
Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Earl Galentine, Kenneth Galentine, Ben Holland, Jeffery Freeman, Ralph Freeman, and Brian Moore.
Martha Jo Williams, 72, of Springdale died Jan. 8, 2002, at the Northwest
Medical Center in Springdale.
She was a native of Hartman, daughter of the late Joseph Robert Goodin,
and a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Dean E. Williams Sr.; two sons, Dean
E. Williams Jr. of Broken Bow, Okla., and Ted Williams of Siloam Springs;
one daughter, Terri Armstrong of Springdale; mother, Lera Helen Morrow
Goodin of Clarksville; one sister, Lora D. Morris of Clarksville; 13 grandchildren;
and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale
with Brian Porter officiating. Burial was in the Bluff Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lawrence Schmieding, Gary Owens, Carl Richardson, Keith Stone, Ronnie Drymon, and Russ Day.
Willard L. Davis, 59, of Russellville died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at
his home.
He was a retired Continental Telephone Company employee, native of Pope
County, and son of the late W. M. and Gustava Duvall Davis. He was preceded
in death by three nieces, Diane Parker, Regina Burk and Cheryl Miller.
Survivors include his widow, Anna J. Davis; two sons and one daughter-in-law,
Will Davis of the home and Jeff and Cindy Davis of Little Rock; two brothers
and sisters-in-law, Jay and Pat Davis of Clarksville and Gerald and Delsa
Davis of Atkins; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Norman Chenowith
of Ola, Pat and Ray Chambers of Siloam Springs, and Barbara and Verlon
Farris of Russellville; two grandchildren, Brooke Storment and Hunter Davis,
and their mother, Tracy Davis, all of Dover; and 13 nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Happy Valley Assembly
of God Church with Rev. Michael Burden officiating.
Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral
Service of Atkins.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Hagans, Eddie Smith, Kent Hollabaugh, Leon Byrum, Ellis Lunningham, and Jerry Branch.
Doyne L. (Sanch) Brazear, 37, of Clarksville died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002,
in a Fort Smith hospital.
He was a machinist and former resident of Mayflower.
Survivors include twin daughters, Thai Lynn Brazear and Sirena Mary
Brazear, both of Conway; mother, Jean Collins of Clarksville; one sister,
Connie Ramson of Conway; five brothers, Eddie Koonce of Conway, Russell
David Brazear of Little Rock, and Scott Stover, Johnny Ryun and Michael
Ryun, all of Clarksville; two uncles; and one aunt.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the Mayflower Cemetery with arrangements by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Conway.
