Addie L. Bilderback, 87, of Clarksville died Friday, March 16, 2001,
at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Grow, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Luther Tom and
Dora Dove Drake McWilliams, widow of Tom Bilderback, a Baptist, and was
preceded in death by one son, Larry R. Bates.
She is survived by one son, Leon Bates of Clarksville; one sister, Vesta
Hunt of Sudan, Texas; three brothers, Henry McWilliams of Amarillo, Texas,
C. B. McWilliams of Littlefield, Texas, and Leslie McWilliams of Fort Smith;
five grandchildren, Rhonda Armistead of Charlotte, N. C., Sharon Wofford
of Russellville, and Melinda Middleton, Kelley Bates, and Jeff Bates, all
of Clarksville; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 3 p.m. Monday, March 19, at Stillwell Cemetery with John Ballard officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Betty Jean Dean Black, 72, of Clarksville died Tuesday, March 13, 2001,
at Fort Smith.
She was a retired office manager, member of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints, widow of George W. Dean and James Black, daughter
of the late James and Alice Erickson Donnelley, and was preceded in death
by one son, William Ward Dean.
She is survived by one daughter, Virginia Spiotto of Clarksville; eight
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Friday, March 16, at Oakland Cemetery with Dan Farrer officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Bobbie Temple Taylor, 84, of Clarksville died Thursday, March 15, 2001,
at her home.
A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Robert C.
and Edna Phillips Temple, graduate of Fort Smith High School and Arkansas
State Teachers College in Conway, member of the First United Methodist
Church in Clarksville, the only retired lay teacher at Mt. St. Mary's Academy
in Little Rock, and a former teacher in the Pulaski County School District
prior to retiring and returning to Clarksville.
Survivors include her husband, John C. Taylor; one brother, Lee Douglas
Temple of Fort Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at
the Kendall Cemetery with Burley King officiating. Arrangements were under
the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Clara Emma Snow, 84, of Lamar died Friday, March 16, 2001, at Little
Rock.
She was a Methodist, daughter of the late William Fredrick and Anna
Rose Loedige, widow of William Orison Snow, and was preceded in death by
one son, William Douglas Snow.
She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Adolph
Novak of Pleasanton, Texas, Stella and Ralph Pruitt of Derby, Kan., Judy
and Gary Greene of Pleasanton, Texas, and Barbara and Joe Dabney of Mountain
View; one sister, Theresa Norcross of Lawrence, Kan.; two brothers, William
Loedige of Lamar and Fred Loedige of Mesa, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; and
11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at Roller-Cox Chapel with burial
in the Reynolds Cemetery at Lamar.
Pallbearers were Philip Pruitt, Andrew Pruitt, Douglas Sotelo, Gayland Holman, Barry Miles, and Eric Heidel.
Curtis C. Wofford, 86, of Ozark, brother of Cassius Wofford of Clarksville
and Cletus Wofford of Hartman, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Mercy Hospital/Turner
Memorial in Ozark.
He was a son of the late Archie and Taney Hyden Wofford, native of Ozark,
Navy veteran of World War II, member of Ozark First United Methodist Church,
a 50-year member of the Ozark Masonic Lodge, and was retired after owning
Nu-Way Cleaners in Ozark for 34 years.
Survivors include his widow, Evelyn Coleman Wofford; one sister, Chella
Stokes of Ozark; and one other brother, Auzie Wofford of Russellville.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Roger Glover officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
Ethel S. Caldwell, 89, of Clarksville died Monday, March 19, 2001, at
Lamar.
She was a member of Stillwell Baptist Church, daughter of the late Henry
and Eveline Elliot Wilson, and widow of Harles Caldwell.
She is survived by three daughters, Alma Lee Wilson of Clarksville;
Delores Walsh of Oaklawn, Ill., and Marlene Farrow of Brandenton, Fla.;
one stepdaughter, Susie Simmons of Perry; one sister, Clara Brooks of Merritt
Island, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren;
three stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
A private memorial service will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Fredrick Gunnar (Fritz) Karnell, 84, of Clarksville died Saturday, March
17, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired Greenville Tube employee, Lutheran, member of the Masonic
Lodge, son of the late Gunnar Herbert and Edith Wilhelmina Karnell, and
was preceded in death by one son, Michael Anthony Karnell.
Survivors include his widow, Helen Ann Mliczek Karnell; one daughter,
Victoria Mary Roberts of London; one son, Fredrick Gunnar Karnell Jr. of
Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren, Fredrick G. Karnell III and Matthew
Karnell, both of Pennsylvania, and Charles L. Roberts III of London.
Funeral was at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Father
William Wewers officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Donnie Carroll, James Paxton, Randy Palmer, Mike Harvey, James Lee Zieler, and Jimmy Harmon.
John Wesley Reece, 80, of Russellville, formerly of Johnson County,
died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
A native of Minneapolis, Minn., he was a son of the late Fredrick and
Josephine Reece, served in the U. S. Army in the South Pacific and received
the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two bronze service stars, the Combat
Infantry Badge, the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster, and was the
recipient of the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, the
World War II Victory Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, and the American Defense
Service Medal. Following the war he entered the Merchant Marine where he
served several years, was a life member of Rogers Rye Post 2283 of the
VFW, and member of Pup Tent 3 Cooties in Russellville, Simpson Turner Chapter
of the DAV, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was a retired
well driller and farmer.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Josephine Chapman, Lorraine
Reece, and Pauline Reece; and two brothers, Verian Theodore Reece and Frederick
Reece.
Survivors include two brothers, James Reece of Breezy Point, Minn.,
and Joseph Reece of Minneapolis, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Lila Lee Reece
of Minneapolis, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at
Shiloh Williamson Cemetery in Russellville under the direction of Humphrey
Funeral Service. Full military honors were provided by Rogers Rye Post
2283 of the VFW.
Active pallbearers were members of Rogers Rye Post 2283 of Veterans
of Foreign Wars.
Honorary pallbearers were K. P. Harvey and A. M. Armstrong.

Norma Rhea Nowlin, 74, of London died Monday, March 12, 2001, at London.
She was a livestock ranch owner, various produce grower, affiliated
with the Assembly of God Church, daughter of the late William Mark and
Lou Ella Whorton Vinson, and widow of William Thomas Nowlin.
She is survived by two stepdaughters, Betty Rogers of Stockton, Calif.,
and Shirley Haney of Suisun, Calif.; two sisters, Oma Lee Whorton of London
and Vera Lou Roybal of Billings, Mont.; one half-brother, Johnny Vinson
of London; one stepgranddaughter, Debra Bess of Calhoun, Ga.; one aunt,
Agnus White of London; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 15, at the First Assembly of
God Church in London with Rev. Jerry Schlinker officiating.
Burial was in East Point Cemetery at London under the direction of Roller-Cox
Funeral Home.

Robert Lee Hogue, 67, of Hartman died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at
his home.
He was a native of Alba, Texas, son of the late James Lewis and Annie
Clementine Mosley Hogue, and was preceded in death by one brother; and
two sisters.
Survivors include his widow, Mae Posey Hogue; five daughters, Deborah
Dalton of Hartman, Phyllis Dalton, Robin Stepp, and Bobbie Marlow, all
of Clarksville, and Barbara Hampton of Ozone; four sons, James Hogue and
Larry Hogue, both of Hartman, Raymond Hogue of Lamar, and Johnny Hogue
of Clarksville; one sister, Opal Jones of Lonoke, Texas; one brother, Rommie
Hogue of Lonoke, Texas; 29 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel
with Rev. Vernon Long officiating. Burial was in Spadra Cemetery.

Sammy L. Buggar, 56, of Clarksville died Monday, March 19, 2001, at
Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Dyess and a Baptist.
Survivors include his widow, Ine Buggar; mother, Mary Allen of Blue
Mountain; and one brother, Lonnie Carter of Booneville.

Thalia Masters Collins, 52, of Scranton, sister of J. D. Masters of
Clarksville, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical
Center.
She was a native of Mena, daughter of the late John Dewey and Ada Marie
Marple Masters, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Sallie Dawn
Masters.
Other survivors are one daughter, Teresa Hickey of Houma, La.; and one
son, J. W. Collins of Scranton.

Vera Rebecca Hudson Hart Williams, 90, of Clarksville died Thursday,
March 15, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a Methodist, daughter of the late Samuel and Martha Kirwin Hudson,
and was preceded in death by one daughter, Mona Kay Hart; three sisters,
Norma Harvey, Bernice Self, and Eva McMillian; and two brothers, Elmer
Hudson and Ernest Hudson.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
