Charles Harlin Lee, 84, of Wagoner, Okla., died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000,
in a Muskogee, Okla., hospital.
A native of Hunt, he was a son of the late Charlie and Essie Shamblin
Lee, a retired truck driver, Army veteran of World War II, recipient of
the Purple Heart and Bronze Star awards, and was preceded in death by his
widow, Mattie Knight Lee, and one grandson, Charles Newton Lee.
He is survived by two sons, Charles Don and Terry Wayne Lee, both of
Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Avis Bohannon of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Coy
Lee of Ozark; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Stanley Farmer officiating. Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery at Hunt.
Joyce Marie Wilson, 70, of Coal Hill died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000,
at her home.
She was retired, a Catholic, daughter of the late Fred and Genavieve
Lawson Jaynes, widow of Luke A. Wilson, and was preceded in death by one
grandson, Michael Kevin Wano Jr.
Survivors include five daughters, Gina Lynn Archer of Deer Park, Texas,
Lou Ann Pitts of Clarksville, Mary Morgan and Kathy Wilson, both of Coal
Hill, and Laurie Jaynes of Houston, Texas; one son, Larry Jaynes of La
Porte, Texas; one sister, Armalene Franks of Pearland, Texas; 14 grandchildren;
and 12 great-grandchildren.
Rosary was at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Roller-Cox Chapel. Funeral
was at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Altus with
Father Hilary Filiatreau officiating. Burial was in Coal Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Mike Fultz, William Pullen, Lee Tilley, Chris
Lanphear, Luke Morgan, and Wes Hardin.
Honorary pallbearers were John Wayne Satterfield and Beau Morgan.
Oren Yates, 53, of Russellville, son of Oren and Lorene Yates of Hartman,
died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at his home.
He was a native of Wasco, Calif., a 1971 cum laude graduate of the University
of the Ozarks, a civil service employee for the U. S. Army and the U. S.
Army Corps of Engineers, recipient of the Meritorious Service Award, a
hospice administrator with Area Agency on Aging, a "corner man"
with Goodnight Fightnight, Women's Professional Boxing with Stacy Goodson,
and a member of House of Praise.
Other survivors include eight children, Kevin Yates of Montana, Charles
Yates of Jacksonville, Joseph Yates of Mount Vernon, Patsy McConnell of
Casa, and Jessica Yates, Magen Yates, Lance Yates, and Miranda Yates, all
of Sulphur, La.; one brother, Orlan Teddy Yates of Hartman; two grandchildren;
former wife, Patsy Yates Guillory of Sulphur, La.; two daughters-in-law;
and one son-in-law.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at Humphrey
Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rick Smith officiating. The
body was cremated.

Bishop William George Ross, 57, of Ozark, father of Virginia Webb of
Clarksville, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, in Ozark.
He was a native of St. Louis, Mo., veteran of the U. S. Air Force, minister
of the Seventh Day Pentecostal Church of Christ, and a radio announcer
for KLYR Radio on the "King George Show."
He is survived by one other daughter, Neva Britton of Ozark; two sons,
Kenneth and Harry Britton; mother, Geneva Hurley Ross of St. Louis, Mo.;
grandmother, Alice Bell of St. Louis, Mo.; two brothers, Andrew James Salazar
and Larry Lee Salazar, both of St. Louis, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Roller Chapel in Paris with
Rev. Roy Cox officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery at Paris.
Honorary pallbearers were Stephanie, Bruce and Allen Ray, Warren Kaston, James Hice, and Wayne Thacker.
