Margie Terry McCraw, John T. McCraw, Miriam F. McCraw
Margie Terry McCraw, 32, of Lamar and two children, John Thomas Terry
McCraw, 4, and Miriam Faith Elida McCraw, 17 months, died Friday, Dec.
15, 2000, in a house fire located on County Road 74.
Mrs. McCraw is a native of Russellville, graduate of Lamar High School,
a summa cum laude graduate of the University of the Ozarks, member of Elida
Baptist Church in New Mexico, math teacher at Lamar High School, former
teacher at Oark and in Portales, N. M., and the granddaughter of the late
Dewey Stone and the late Gus and Avline Terry.
Survivors include her husband, Gene McCraw; three daughters, Samantha
McCraw, Emily McCraw, and Abigail McCraw, all of the home; parents, Billy
G. and Judith Terry of Lamar; two brothers, Fred Terry and Daniel Terry,
both of Lamar; four sisters, Clara Gordon of Magazine, Frances Terry of
Marion, Cheryl Terry of Russellville, and Patty Terry of Lamar; and grandmother,
Dorthula Stone of Hagarville.
John Thomas Terry McCraw is a native of Clarksville and Miriam Faith
Elida McCraw is a native of Clovis, N. M.
They are survived by their father, Gene McCraw of Lamar; three sisters,
Samantha McCraw, Emily McCraw, and Abigail McCraw, all of Lamar; grandparents,
Billy G. and Judith Terry of Lamar and John and Wanda McCraw of Elida,
N. M.; and great-grandmother, Dorthula Stone of Hagarville.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at the Lamar Baptist Church
with Rev. Jimmy Milloway and Mike Eppinette officiating.
Burial will be in Fort Douglas Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke
Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Steve Hale, Jamey Styles, Shane Gordon, David Graves, Leon Meimerstorf, and Larry Holben.
Margaret M. Hightower, 78, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000,
in Fort Smith.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clarksville
and a retired salesperson for Midwest Distributing Company.
Survivors include her husband, James Joe Hightower; one daughter, Emma
Gene Young of Geismar, La.; one son, Billy Joe Hightower of Arcadia, Calif.;
three sisters, Mary Sasseen of Winter Springs, Fla., Katy Mills of Wichita,
Kan., and Judy Barrow of Marshfield, Mo.; one brother, Jack Morris of Casselberry,
Fla.; eight grandchildren, Brad Young, Kelly Hanuska of Clarksville, Mark
Young, Dick Hazell, Jerry Hazell, Michelle Morrison, Susan Hightower, and
John Hightower; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Edwards
Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith.
The body was cremated.
Gretchen Nickell Blackburn, 88, of Clarksville died Monday, Dec. 18,
2000, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Ozark, she was a daughter of the late Warwick and Amelia
Richter Nickell, widow of Roy R. Blackburn, member of the First Presbyterian
Church of Clarksville for 65 years and the Church Circle, and was preceded
in death by one son, Don Blackburn.
She is survived by one son and two daughters-in-law, David and Tona
Blackburn of Van Buren and Wanda Blackburn of Yorktown, Va.; four grandchildren,
Donna Sue Blackburn of Virginia Beach, Va., Roy Blackburn and Walter Blackburn,
both of Fort Smith, and Steven Blackburn of Conway; and two great-grandchildren,
Iris and Aaron Paige, both of Virginia Beach, Va.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel
with Burley King officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roy Blackburn, Walter Blackburn, Steven Blackburn,
Alan Brooke, Wayne Kimbley, and Martin Kimbley.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Hardwicke Funeral
Home.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
John Waylon Pellham, eight-month-old son of Johnny C. Moore Jr. of Bigelow
and Verda I. Pellham of Russellville, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at
AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and
grandson of the late John Thomas.
Other survivors include grandparents, Jeanette Pellham of Hagarville,
Johnny Carroll Moore Sr. and Dorothy Merlene Moore of Bigelow; one uncle
and three aunts, Edwin and Yolanda Skaggs of Clarksville and Corina and
Mirand Moore of Bigelow.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Church of Christ of
Latter-day Saints in Russellville with Bishop John Paul Dilworth officiating.
Burial was in Coleman Cemetery at Pelsor under the direction of Roller-Cox
Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Leland Franklin, Russell Standridge, Michael Wagner, Reggie Saucier, Terry Howell, and John King.
Marvin Newton McClaine, 97, of Lamar died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at
Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late William and Isabelle Patterson McClaine, a
farmer, and was preceded in death by three sisters, Alta McCarley, Anna
Wood, and Nancy Mason; and three brothers, John, Garland and Hershell McClaine.
He is survived by one sister-in-law, Vera McClaine of Lamar; and several
nieces and nephews including George and Kenneth McClaine of Lamar, Carl
McClaine of Clarksville; Carolyn Hendrix of Page, Ariz., and Shirley McClaine
of Los Angeles, Calif.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev.
Billy Usery officiating. Burial was in Holman Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Larry Yarbrough, George Clark, Gene Harmon,
Mitchell Crutchfield, Ronnie Potter, and Leon Bachus.
Honorary pallbearers were Nathan McClaine, Ray Clark, Eldon Clark, and Clinton Robbins.
Ralph S. Plugge, 80, of Calumet City, Ill., died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000.
A former resident of Hartman, he was a son of the late John and Marie
Eveld Plugge, a World War II Army staff sergeant with the 69th infantry
division, a Purple Heart recipient and received two Bronze Stars, a retired
employee of U. S. Steel, member of L.O.O.M. No. 828, and was preceded in
death by two brothers, Gilbert and Wilfred Plugge.
Survivors include his widow, Josephine Nee Murawska Plugge; two sons
and daughters-in-law, Russell and Nancy Plugge and Wayne and Lynda Plugge;
one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Michael McAdaragh; two brothers,
Roman Carlos Plugge and Richard Plugge; two sisters, Delores Wiederkehr
and Estella Mae Hilton; eight grandchildren, Scott, Kristen, Brian, Gennia,
Eric and Todd Plugge and Patrick and Jill McAdaragh; and numerous nieces
and nephews.
Funeral was Monday, Dec. 11.
William Joe Baughman, 91, of London died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Countryside
Manor Nursing Home.
A native of Moreland, he was a son of the late Henry and Mattie Crites
Baughman, cattle and row crop farmer, former employee of Sugar Creek Creamery
and F. C. Peters and Sons, and a member of the Martin Chapel Assembly of
God Church.
Survivors include his widow, Blanch Holyfield Baughman; two daughters,
Ollie Ruble and Mary Jo Parker, both of London; four grandchildren, Verna
Crowden, James Ruble, and Mary Sue Riddell, all of London, and Rheba Crotts
of Lamar; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Humphrey Funeral Service
Chapel in Russellville with Rev. David Owens, Rev. Claude Jackson and Rev.
Arlin Elmore officiating. Burial will be in the Brock Cemetery at Piney.
Active pallbearers will be Cletus Knight, Virgil Knight, Harold Curtis,
Dr. Mikel Brown, Paul Ray Parker, and Claud Parker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Arval Lee Parker, Edward Evans, Bill Stone,
Flave Peters, and Bill Peters.
