Spring Break in London

March 14-21, 2003
Dustin and I are off to London

For some reason, I'm not sure what or when, Dustin and I decided to venture out over Spring Break.  So in January, we began to make plans to head to London for a week.  Just who is Dustin Summey?  Well he's a Russellville native (sort of) and has been working for me at Tech for the past two years.  Before that, he was a frequent visitor for a couple of years previous to his hiring.  In other words, I just can't seem to rid myself of him, not that I would ever want to.

After pricing many different variations of the itinerary, we finally decided that a Friday to Friday trip would the most economical.  We have even included a day trip to Paris via the Eurostar high speed train.  That way, we can be in Paris by 10:30am for a full day of sightseeing and still be back in our own beds in an island country away by midnight.

The first step was to get the flights and hotel booked as the best price.  Then small things like the trip to Paris, Tube tickets, Dustin's passport and London Symphony tickets.  Did I say passport?  Yes, Dustin had to apply for his and wait for it to arrive.  Of course, he had it in under two weeks, but to him, they were a very LONG two weeks.  Also, Symphony?  Dustin wanted to do something that he could not do anywhere else.  Well, in London there are plenty of things that one can not do anywhere else in the world.  After deciding on the Symphony, his choices were down to two dates -- Sunday and Thursday.  Sunday sounded the best, but the music was a bit morbid, so he selected the Thursday performance which will be more contemporary.

Now, if we can just get Mother Nature to help us out by having really nice late March weather.  Typically, that time of the year, temperatures can average close to freezing.  At least the lines will be short, but most attractions appear to be open for our visiting.  Heavy coats, scarf's, boots and gloves will be necessary clothing requirements.

We will be flying Delta from Little Rock to Atlanta and on the Gatwick in London.  I'm already racking up more Frequent Flyer miles.  Adding this 8,000 miles and those from my next scheduled trip to London with Jordan Richmond (next page) in May, I'll be just a few thousand away from another FREE TRIP to Europe.
