Cooper upsets incumbent to win board seat

Patrons of the Paris School District went to the polls in very small numbers last week for the annual school election.

Only 6 percent to 7 percent of the district's registered voters cast ballots on Tuesday, Sept. 18.

Two-term incumbent Allan Johnson of Midway was defeated by Brian Cooper of Paris.

The complete vote totals are:

Cooper 245 68.5 percent

Johnson 113 31.5 percent

Johnson, a poultry farmer, was president of the Paris School District Board. Cooper was making his first political race.
