6/6/01. A Special Thanks to those AirForce doctors, nurses, corpsmen, pilots, Medevac personnel, etc. who speeded us on our way from RAF Mildenhall, England to the Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio for removal of the acoustic-neuroma tumor leaning on Bob's brainstem and causing left-face numbness, vertigo, and severe headaches. They couldn't have been nicer; from Dr. Mike Panoisian who examined him and ordered the MRI and Medevac, to the eye exam by Dr. Casey. Dentists LtCol. Tjumleigh(sp?) and Capt. Briley were extremely helpful, and without the assistance of MSgt Hesterman (and wife Lori) and other members of the Church of God (Ministry to the Military) we might never have gotten off the ground.
At RAF Lakenheath it was SSgt Ciccerone and at Ramstein AB it was TSgt Rossello who impressed us with their proficiency and speeded us on our way. Finally, we can't thank enough the neuro-surgeon Dr.(Major) Pawan Rastogi, and the anethysist Dr.Blake.
I'm sure I've left out other names I should've remembered. Forgive me, please.

5 Sept 05 - TWICE WAS NOT NICE! In May of 2005, following more than 3 yrs of regular activity, I underwent essentially the same operation in Dallas at the Zale Lipshy University Hospital by neurosurgeons Dr. Coimbra and Dr. Roland. The orignal symptoms had returned with a vengeance and recovery seems slower to me this time around, but the doctors say they got ALL of the tumor this time so I'm looking forward to a full recovery. Thanks be to GOD and to a wonderful family who rallied to locate and chauffeur me to top notch medical care.

THRICE WASN'T NICE EITHER! They call it a "recurring acoustic neuroma" now, and Dr. Coimbra performed the 3rd operation in Fort Worth TX on 4 Feb 08 -- an eight hr. ordeal they tell me. Am still trying to recover at this late date of 18 April '08 and hoping to return to the church in Foreman soon. In the meantime we're blessed to be staying at our son's home near Ft.Worth.

The post-op MRI led Dr. Coimbra to schedule me for a radiation treatment at Baylor Medical where they bolted a metal ring to my skull prior to the dose of radiation at the remnants of the tumor (now cyst). Ouch: but maybe helped?

Update: 4/8/2011 Foreman AR. Continuing to improve, but still seeing double so Maroline does most of the driving. We were in Tucson in March of '10, and drove to FL with daughter Millie following in her car. Now this month she and Luke are in Tucson, and Maroline and I are back in Foreman again. A good report last week by scheduled MRI in that no changes were detected. Yea!

June '04 -- FLASH! A prophetic word had said "A new flower will bloom in June", but we hadn't given it much thought except now in hindsight. All of a sudden, it seems, the latest technology has jelled and Maroline has her own "streaming" webcast with teaching sermons.
