King David was a psalmist

The Purifying of 'The Body'

The Book of Numbers, chapt. 31, addresses the subject of PURIFICATION like this: Num31:22 "Only the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead, Every thing that may abide the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of separation: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make go through the water".

Nu:19:12: He shall purify himself with it on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean.

Num31:24 "And ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean, and afterward ye shall come into the camp".

"But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness. Malachi 3:2-3

Titus2:14 "Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works".

Four verses of scripture tell us that David ruled seven (7) years in Hebron, and thirty-three (33) in Jerusalem:

2Sam5:5, 1Kings2:11, 1Chr3:4, 1Chr29:27

Leviticus 12:2 KJV "Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.

Lev12:3 And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

Lev12:4 And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled.

Lev12:5 But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days.

Lev12:6 And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest:

For a daughter it was "two 7's + 66". For the boy it was only 40 days, but for the girl it was 80.
No order is specified here, but since Adam preceded Eve, and considering the multiple "one-two" events in Scripture, it may be a male-female pattern we're seeing.

[The number 40 makes me think of the years they wandered in the wilderness, and the number 80 (four-score), like the Psalm of Moses, Ps90. Could this purifying process involve the Gentiles maybe? Are we being 'made fit' to make the journey to Heaven? ]

David battled King Saul before becoming King himself. As a young boy he'd been a sheepherder where he'd fought off the lion and the bear. Later he won the battle against Goliath, and became a strong and popular military leader.

King Saul had seemed to be reluctant to take the job, and then was disobedient so he was removed. The NT says of that time: "And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years". Acts13:21.

IN HEBRON for seven years:

1Ch:3:1: Now these were the sons of David, which were born unto him in Hebron; the firstborn Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess; the second Daniel, (Chileab - 2Sam3:3) of Abigail the Carmelitess:

1Ch:3:2: The third, Absalom the son of Maachah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur: the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith:

1Ch:3:3: The fifth, Shephatiah of Abital: the sixth, Ithream by Eglah his wife.

1Ch:3:4: These six were born unto him in Hebron; and there he reigned seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years.

1Ch:3:5: And these were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shimea, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon, four, of Bath-shua [We know her as Bathsheba] the daughter of Ammiel:

1Ch:3:6: Ibhar also, and Elishama, and Eliphelet,

1Ch:3:7: And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

1Ch:3:8: And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphelet, nine.

1Ch:3:9: These were all the sons of David, beside the sons of the concubines, and Tamar their sister.

David plus Solomon, and then fifteen successors to the throne down to Josiah#18 (when Saul is included).

1Ch:3:10: And Solomon's son was Rehoboam, Abia his son, Asa his son, Jehoshaphat his son,

1Ch:3:11: Joram his son, Ahaziah his son, Joash his son,

1Ch:3:12: Amaziah his son, Azariah his son, Jotham his son,

1Ch:3:13: Ahaz his son, Hezekiah his son, Manasseh his son,

1Ch:3:14: Amon his son, Josiah his son.

JOSIAH's Sons: and note the two Zedekiahs.

1Ch:3:15: And the sons of Josiah were, the firstborn Johanan [fn -Jehoahaz], the second Jehoiakim[fn -Eliakim], the third Zedekiah, the fourth Shallum.

1Ch:3:16: And the sons of Jehoiakim: Jeconiah his son, Zedekiah his son.

1Ch:3:17: And the sons of Jeconiah; Assir, Salathiel his son.. [followed by Zerubbabel/Zorobabel]

1Ch:3:18: Malchiram also, and Pedaiah, and Shenazar, Jecamiah, Hoshama, and Nedabiah.
1Ch:3:19: And the sons of Pedaiah were, Zerubbabel, and Shimei: and the sons of Zerubbabel; Meshullam, and Hananiah, and Shelomith their sister:

The Zerubbabel of Pedaiah is not the same as the one of Shealtiel (another name of Salathiel; see fn v.17).

Ezr:3:2: Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar of the God of Israel. This was following the 70yr. exile to Babylon, following the demise of that dynastic Kingdom of Judah.

2Ch:36:8: Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.

2Ch:36:9: Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD. The kid was just eight, but was also known as Jeconiah and Coniah.

2Ch:36:10: And when the year was expired, king Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of the LORD, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.

2Ch:36:11: Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. [He was the last (final) King of Judah, but not in the Jesus pedigree.]

These 3 (Saul/David/Solomon) ruled over all the 'Twelve Tribes' prior to their 10/2 split during Rehoboam reign.

To be specific, the first three kings were not King's of Judah per se, but of all the 'twelve' tribes (plus Manasseh and Ephraim), and it isn't clear how the split affected the priest-tribe of Levi.

  4. Abijam - 1K15:1

17. Amon - 2Chr33:21
18. Josiah - Found the 'lost book', and had been prophesied by name: 1K13.
19. Jehoahaz - 2Chr36:2 - reigned for only 3 months.
20. * Jehoiakim - 2Chr36:5
21. Jehoiachin/Jechoniah/Coniah - 2Chr36:9 - Crowned when only 8 yrs. old.
22. Zedekiah - 2Chr36:11 -This last King of Judah was a brother of Jeconiah.

The Apostle Paul preaches at Antioch

Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.

Act13:17 The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it.

Act13:18 And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness. Act13:19 And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot. Act13:20 And after that he gave unto them judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.

Act13:21 And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years.

Act13:22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

Act13:23 Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

[God is a husbandman who planted the Garden of Eden and plans to reap a harvest according to the Book of Revelation. David's Seed was passed to his twenty sons, but only Solomon's followed the line of the Kings of Judah, and continued on through the rebuilding of the Temple after the return from the 70 years in Babylon.]

Matthew: Book of Kings!

Jerusalem is the City of the Great King", Matt5:35, and chapter one includes David's lineage and the Dynasty of a score of Jewish kings leading to the King of King's: JESUS.

You could be BORN into a dynasty, or into the Tribe of Levi, but in the Old Testament they weren't allowed to be both a King and a Priest. (Melchizedek excepted) Now Rev 1:6 tells us we can be both!

1Cor10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?   1Cor10:17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
