Moments...

All of which our lives consist
Snapshot magic moments
A child is born, thrashing madly
Against the injustice, torn away
From safety of his mother's womb
Takes those furtive first steps, falls
Gets up to walk, run, dance
Through life, always away and toward
The unknown
Moments...
Lovers kiss and touch with mad pleasure
Passion and insanity entwine deliciously
And peace is momentary, sleep fragmentary
In their private world of bliss
Moments...
Pride in knowing their children's pleasure
Christmas presents, graduation
Weddings, birthdays, bar mitzvahs, communions
Every moment sealed in gossamer...
Fleeing madly away on the wings of time
Incremental fragile moments...
Then an old man and woman
Walking, waltzing, never running now
Away and toward the Unknown...
Slowing down as time speeds up
Away from here, gone from now
Wishing to call back every memory's moments
Life is moments...all so quickly passed away...
Ah, but such moments!
