Life Goes On...? The birds sing at the dawning of the day Reminding me the world's not gone away But in its loveliness remains secure, The night sky shimmers with the stars above, The Universe goes on without your love, My eyes observe the world past tears, Its beauty beckons through the years And I shall once again revel in it. My life's not over with you gone away I will have happiness again, someday You were the one for me,"forever," till the end Then life continued, my heart beat again Making me wonder what "forever" really meant When only stolen hours with you were ever spent The most wonderful hours of my little life! Passionate love-words smoothly granted Afterwards just as easily recanted Such meager half-truths blithely spoken With solemn love-vows casually broken Sparse wonder is it, pretence finally ends And this silly little broken heart amends? I would have kept you with me one more hour Or one more lifetime, had I had the power... Though weak-willed, I'm no beggar without pride And you will never know the bitter tears I've cried The hurt will go away, I know...Eventually And I will finally of this misery be free, And I will finally be free...to love again.
