You saved me

Once so afraid of being alone
I made way too many mistakes
I took many chances on stupid romances
My heart took some falls and some breaks
Then one of those guys in the crowd
Stepped forward and up to the plate
He made a base hit on my heart
And I caught the ball, but too late
He stole home, and then stole away
With not many words of goodbye
And left me there, holding the ball
No longer believing the lie
About love and forever and such
No marriage, no vows and no ring
But a baby was growing inside
A marvelous, miracle thing
And for once in my life I was sure
That no matter how it had begun
This sweet little baby so pure
Whether beautiful daughter or son
Would be someone whom I would adore
Someone who would give me a chance
To be someone important, and more:
A Mom, to the end of Life's dance
For my baby, I had to be strong
For my baby, I had to be brave
Together we'd truly belong
My young life your new life would save
And now, looking back through the years
To that time, with its sorrow and pain
If it meant that I would still have you
I would make that mistake once again
