Easter Sonrise

It was an early morning when Mary left her home
And set out with a heavy heart to visit a sad tomb
She meant to go and do the task that someone had to do
To wash the body of the One Whose young Life was now through
She came prepared to see a broken, sad and bleeding sight
But what a change had happened during that long awful night
As she approached the cave in which the body would lie cold
A quite amazing thing was there: the grave-stone had been rolled
Away from that dark gaping maw of earth, His resting place
An angel stood to guard and to tell all who seek His face
"He is not here, He's risen and He lives forever more!
So you need never enter into that most frightful door,
The one that leads to Hell, the door of sin and death and strife,
And those who seek Him now, receive from Him eternal life!"
She ran back to tell others that the Lord indeed did live
And how she saw Him there and of the hope our Lord did give
That hope is for us all, though Mary was the first to see,
Eternal life and pardon through His name, for you and me.
