| My Squirrel Trap | |

I dreamed up this squirrel trap in my mind last winter and built it this spring. I kept a squirrel in it until this fall. I used reinforcement wire, cut in 6 foot lengths, hooking it all together with what I call hog ringers. Then I covered it with chicken wire. I put a feeder at one end near an oak tree and a bedding box at the other end by a Pine tree. The trap is about 30 feet long and I hung this one in the woods behind my house. I like to work the young dogs with it making the squirrel run back and forth between the ends. The dogs follow him and will bark treed when he enters his house or is near the feeding tree. I have trapped squirrel and put them in the trap, but have also caught them directly in the trap itself. Mostly, I have fox squirrels here. I think I would rather have a gray one. |
