Skinning Squirrels
Old Fashioned Way!

Richland Creek--a good, clean place to fix squirrels.
Grandpa taught me to skin a squirrel. I don't know if this is the correct way or not, but it's how I do it. I cut a place on the back of the squirrel. Then I pull the skin both ways--toward the head and feet--until the body of the squirrel is skinless. I cut the head and feet away. I have a pair of Martha Stewart scissors from K-Mart that I use. I give the dogs the guts of the squirrel. I know this may be taboo, but Grandpa did and I do too! I like to clean my squirrels at a creek in the mountains and take them home in a cooler. Sometimes, I put a bag of ice in the cooler, but if it is cold outside, I just get water from the creek. Three squirrels will fry up a nice mess.

Make a cut on the back of the squirrel.

Pull skin toward the head and back feet.

Cut away the head and feet. Discard fur.

These are Martha Steward scissors form K-Mart.

Richland Creek clean water wash!

Cork waiting pay for her labor!

Cranky gets her share!

Three squirrels make a nice mess to fry. I never try to kill more than I can eat. Why be wasteful!
