Hugh Thompson's delinquents: Excused upon their returning and bearing arms...Cornelius Cooke, Jacob Dye, Abraham Dye...John Davis...Charles Hart Jacob Dye is a name associated with the Powell family in Mercer Co. Ky. Mary Goldman, dau. Of Jacob Goldman is said to have married a later day Jacob Dye.

Charles Hart was living on 4,000 acre tract of land on Back Creek Virginia called Springfield on Oct. 16, 1745 according to John Buchanan's Journal. This land is in present day Pulaski County, Virginia. His claim to this land was disputed by Colonel James Patton and the land was granted to Patton by patent in June 1753. (Augusta Co. survey book 1: Kegley, Virginia Frontier, page. 122)

Nov. 19, 1746 August Co. VA, pg. 130 Road ordered form Reed Creek to Eagle Bottom and thence to top of Ridge that parts waters of New River and those of So. Fork of Roanoke, and these are to work it: George, Ezekiel, William and Patrtick Colhoon, Bryant White, Wm. Handlow, Peter Rentfro and his two sons, George the Tinker, Jacob Woolman (Goolman) and two sons, John Black, Simon Hart, Michael Claine, John Stroud, Saml. Starknecker and all the Dunkers that are able to work on the same and all other persons in the precinct. James Colhoon and Charles Hart to be overseers.
Note: Simon Hart is a name that also appears in Mercer Co. KY.
Pg 130 Road from Adam Harmon's to the River and Nr. Branch of Roan Oak - Adam Harmon, overseer, with these workers: Geo. Draper, Israel Lorton and son, George Hermon, Thos. Looney, Jacob Hermon and three sons, Jacob Castle, John Lane, Valentine Harmon, Adren Moser, Humberston Lyon, James Shaggs, Humphrey Baker, John Davis, Fredk. Stering and two sons and all other persons settling in the precincts.

Sept 25 1751, North Carolina Patent Book 5, Pg. 400 # 3673 John Brandon purchased 580 acres in Anson County on the S. side of the Yadkin and both sides of Buffelow Creek about 12 miles above Charles Hart, joining Mr. Dobbs.

Stalnaker to be overseer, with these workers: James Davis and his two sons, Frederick Corlock, David George and Conrad Corlock, Frederick Starn, Jacob and Adam Stalnaker, Joacob and Henry Goldman, Isaiah Hamilton, Hamilton Shoemaker, Timothy Coe, Humphry Baker and son, Goege Stalnaker, Adam Andrews, Mathias Sarch, Michael Hook, Martin Counce, Jacob Mires.
