Galla Creek Kennel Picture Gallery | Momma and her Feist about 1933, Oklahoma! | |
|
During the depression, my mother moved with her parents to Fort Cobb, OK.
Grandpa, Grandma, and Uncle Sam and his wife Ella worked in the cotton
fields. Granny hated the wind and dust of OK. They stayed only one crop
season. Uncle Sam and Ella moved on to Washington state where they
lived the rest of their lives. Granny, Grandpa and Momma moved back to
AR near Falling Water. Momma took her little dog to OK with her and when
they returned the little Feist came too! Even when she was an old woman,
she remember her little Feist dog and always loved this breed of dogs...and
I do too!!! You can see the sharecrop cotton field behind Momma and her dog. Granny said sand blew into the house through cracks. The wind blew each day and nearly made Granny go crazy. When Granny made it home to her AR hills, she swore to never leave again! |
