    The sandstone slabs marking Jacob and Margaret Johnson's graves have stood sentry in the center of Minnow Creek Cemetery for more than 160 years.
    On 19 May 1999, a new gray granite monument with names and dates and additional historical information was placed at the foot of their graves.

    Jacob and Margaret Garrett JOHNSON were living in Surry Co., NC by 1783. They moved to  Lawrence Co., MS abt. 1829 with their son-in-law and daughter, Aaron & Middia MATTHEWS.  After the death of Aaron, c. 1836, Middia, her   nine children, parents, and Jacob Johnson, Jr. moved to Johnson Co., arriving abt. 1837.
    Their descendants:
    MATTHEWS, JOHNSON, STEWART, 
    RAGSDALE, PEARSON, 
    CHRONISTER, CINDLE, & LEWIS.
