Where
is Cuenca, Ecuador?
Ecuador is in
South America bordered to the north and northeast by Columbia and to the
south and southeast by Peru. It is the country highlighted in red on the
map above. The Republic of Ecuador straddles the equator.
It is bordered
by Columbia to the north and northeast and Peru to the south and southeast.
Ecuador is one of the smallest countries in South America (it is about
the size of the state of Nevada). Yet, Ecuador is one of the most geographically
varied countries in the world.
Look for
CUENCA
in the south central part of the country.
It’s about a
45-minute flight south of Quito, the capital city.
Cuenca has a
population of about 400,000 people
and is nestled
high in the Andes Mountains.
