Gen.1: 4 .......and God divided the light from the darkness.
Only God can divide the light from the darkness. The word "DIVIDED" is Strong's #914 and means "to divide, separate, distinguish, select, differ." The effects of Adam's
fall have left natural man in darkness (Psa.112:4). In Adam natural man isn't just "in" darkness the Word declares that they ARE darkness (Eph.5:8).
Jesus came to be a LIGHT in a dark world (Jn.8:12). Those that would
follow Him would not walk in darkness. During His work of redemption He brought deliverance from darkness. (Col.1:13-14). This was accomplished through His identification with darkness for the purpose of its destruction (Lk.22:53). Psalm
88:8 tells us that He was "in darkness" during His crucifixion. He did this as fallen man's substitute. He did this to deliver us from darkness (I Pet.2:9)
Because of the resurrection we stand now in Christ as children of
light (Eph.5:8). In II Corinthians 6:16 when Paul contrasts the Church with the world he calls the Church "light" and the world "darkness." Jesus called His disciples, "the light of the world." (Mat.5:14). God
has "shined the LIGHT of the knowledge of the glory of God in our hearts (II Cor.4:6). The darkness has departed and through the Gospel of Jesus Christ we who were once in darkness now can become an expression of the Light (Acts
26:18) Only God can .....divide the light from the darkness
Father, today we thank you that because of our union with Christ
we have been delivered from the power of darkness and are walking in the
LIGHT of LIFE!!
