Gen.1:1-31

In the order and nature of the six days creative work by the Creator, there is foreshadowed the spiritual work of redemption and restoration by our Lord Jesus Christ, in the saving and maturing of the members of His NEW creation (the Church).

In the creation itself we find a wonderful pattern of what is to be found in the story of God's Word. In Genesis 1:1 we find that which points to the creation before Adam transgressed. Just as Adam, the original creation, was good when he was created, so also the creation of God was good and not created in vain (Isa.45:18 - "vain" is same Hebrew word as "void" in Gen.1:1).
All men in Adam became without form and void through the fall (Eph.2:1-3).

Just as the "Spirit of God moved" upon the face of the waters, redemption began in the womb of the virgin (Lk.1:35). Then consider the Spoken Word "let there be light" as the birthing of the Living Word, Jesus the Light of Life (Jn.8:44). Restoration through redemption could only be accomplished through a man without sin. This made it necessary for Jesus to be born of the seed of a woman (Gen.3:15).

The "second" day which speaks of the "firmament" points to Jesus' death on the cross. As He hung there that day He suffered "separation" from God as man's substitute (Mat.27:46). Because He was forsaken we know that In Him we are accepted (Eph.1:6).

The RESURRECTION is seen in the creation of the "third" day. Jesus was raised on the morning of the third day and in that resurrection New Life was the spiritual fulfilment of "Let the earth bring forth." The many lights of day 4 point to the product of the resurrection. When Jesus the Light of Life is received into the heart of man that man becomes a "light" (Mat.5:16; Eph.5:8; James 1:17).

Day 5 reveals the creation of the "fowls" that fly "above" the earth. This speaks of believer's that have learned of their union with Christ (I Cor.6:17) in His death, burial and resurrection. (Rom.6:1-11). They know they have been washed in His blood and can now be loosed into the heavenlies (Lev.14:1-7).

The "sixth" day speaks of the wonderful day when all of us in the body of Christ will be gathered unto Him (Eph.1:10-11). This foreshadows the time when the Church will be united as One and set aside all our different loves and make Him our only love (Song 5:10). This will then be the time we can enjoy the eternal "seventh day" REST made available from
from the begining (Rev.13:8)
