Alma Green, 79, of Little Rock died Monday, May 12, 2003, at her home.
A native of the Piney Community, she was a daughter of the late Fred Arthur
and Bertha Lena Ruhl Mauritz, widow of Al Green, Baptist and managed residential
property for numerous years. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur
and Ernest Mauritz; and one sister, Lucile Tippey.
She is survived by two sisters, Cloe Thomas and Cleo Nierstheimer, both
of Little Rock; six nephews; four nieces; and numerous great-nephews; great-nieces;
great-great-nephews; and great-great-nieces.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Shinn Funeral Service
Chapel in Russellville with Rev. Susan Morris officiating. Burial will be
in Oakland Cemetery at Clarksville.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Barbara Ann Allen, 63, of Shreveport, La., died Wednesday, May 7, 2003,
in Shreveport, La.
Survivors include four daughters, Cynthia King of Ruston, La., Deanna
Dunlap of Lamar, and Tonya Higgs and Carla Cossey, both of Russellville; two
sons, Timothy Higgs of Russellville and Bobby Allen of Shreveport, La.; four
sisters, Betty Curtis and Evelyn Oliver, both of Clarksville, Patsy Jenkins
of Bentonville, and June Floyd of Charleston; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel
in Ruston, La., with Rev. Dan Moore officiating. Burial was in Pines Memorial
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bryan King, Josh Heardman, Michael Cossey, Timothy Parnell,
Tommy Scroggins, and Wade Dunlap.
He was a retired maintenance employee, son of the late Dako and Jela Milich
Sumonja, and was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.
Survivors include his widow, Edna Bush Griffith Sumonja; one daughter,
Slobodanka Radovic of Libertyville, Ill.; one son, Rade Sumonja of Poway,
Calif.; two stepdaughters, Judith Richards of Zion, Ill., and Marne Griffith
of Vancouver, Wash.; two stepsons, Robert Griffith of Grove City, Ohio, and
Neal Griffith of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild;
10 stepgrandchildren; and 16 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Eric L. Bewley, 30, of Russellville died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at his
home.
He was a native of Russellville, 1991 graduate of Russellville High School,
an employee of Mike Bewley Construction and attended the Harmony Free Will
Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Earl
Corbin.
Survivors include his widow, Judy LaRose Freeman Bewley; one son, Caden
Bewley of the home; one daughter, Chloe Bewley of the home; parents, Mike
and Melody Bewley of London; one sister, Dana Biddle of Centerville; paternal
grandmother and stepgrandfather, Betty and Rex Humbarger of Hot Springs;
paternal grandfather and stepgrandmother, David and Pat Bewley of London;
and maternal grandmother, Mary Corbin of Russellville.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 15, at Shinn Chapel with Rev.
Terry Latham officiating. Burial will be in the Price Cemetery at London.
Active pallbearers will be Billy Hubbard, Tommy Hubbard, Robby Bewley,
Mitchell Price, Mike Clober and Doug Biddle.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shorty Johnson, Bob Meimerstorf, Ed Harness,
Blacky Cossey and Paul Meimerstorf.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Shinn Funeral
Service in Russellville.
Imogene M. Kenney, 90, of Decatur died Saturday, May 3, 2003, in Siloam
Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late Julius and Lizzie
Feltnor Williams, member of the Heritage Baptist Church at Gravette, and
the widow of Roy Nunley and Aaron Kenney.
She is survived by two daughters, Stella Curtis of Clarksville and Wanda
Clinton of Little Rock; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Larry Dean Smith, 57, of Clarksville died Thursday, May 8, 2003, at his
home.
He was born at Heber Springs, son of the late Elmer and Edith Reynolds
Smith, and a retired timber employee.
He is survived by three daughters, Anna Vandergrill of Malden, Mo., and
Rebecca Smith and Bobby Smith, both of Clarksville; two sons, Larry Wayne
Smith of Malden, Mo., and John Bradley Smith of Clarksville; mother of his
children, Martha Umfress of Malden, Mo.; two sisters, Anne Chancelor of Ola
and Debora Hall of Cassville; four brothers, Leon Smith, Ronnie Smith and
Douglas Smith, all of Ola, and Bobby Smith of Clarksville; and 11 grandchildren.
Virginia Ruth Dorney, 64, of Hartman died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at Johnson
Regional Medical Center.
She was born at Denning to John Henry and Glen Smith Stover, member of
Liberty Hill Cemetery Board, Hartman Volunteer Fire Department, and VFW Auxiliary
and a Protestant.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Dorney; two daughters, Cheryl VanAkken
of Spadra and Cleta Ralph of Hartman; one son, Jimmy Dorney of Hartman; five
sisters, Lorene McClain of Denning, Martha Tillery and Francis Tollison, both
of Hartman, and Juanita Walker and Nancy Smith, both of Ozark; three brothers,
Sam, Leo and Gary Stover, all of Denning; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Shaffer Funeral Home
Chapel in Ozark with Rev. John Kindrix officiating. Burial will be in the
Kendall Cemetery north of Hartman.
