Argie Wayne Gould, 68, of Iowa Park, Texas, died Wednesday, April 16,
2003, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
A native of Clarksville, he was a son of the late Argie McKinley and
Lillie Mae Smith Gould, retired U. S. Air Force flight mechanic, and spent
several years in the car rental business. He was preceded in death by one
sister, Syble Bailey.
Survivors include his widow, JoAnn Burns Gould; two daughters and sons-in-law,
Patricia and James McLemore and Sandy and Randy Willingham, all of Iowa Park,
Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Argie Keith and Cheryll Gould of Dean,
Texas, and George Allen and Rachelle Gould of Iowa Park, Texas; two sisters
and brothers-in-law, Jo and Hank Beck of Phoenix, Ariz., and Fern and Lyall
Porter of Clarksville; and 13 grandchildren, Dena Brown, Brandon McLemore
and wife Nicola, Brandy McLemore, Ashley Gould, Josh Simpkins, Chad Gould,
Zackary Gould, Jacob Gould, Jason Willingham, Candice Wise and husband, Malcolm,
Cheryl Gould, Jordan Gould and Devon Gould.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Pacific Avenue Missionary Baptist
Church in Iowa Park, Texas, with Rev. John Fields officiating.
Burial was in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral
Home of Iowa Park, Texas.
Pallbearers were Argie Keith Gould, George Allen Gould, James McLemore,
Brandon McLemore, Randy Willingham, Russell Willingham, Jason Willingham,
and Jack Kerr.
Billy Eugene Ramsey, 79, of Clarksville died Friday, April 18, 2003,
at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock.
Survivors are his widow, Florence Ramsey; three daughters, Jackie Rice
of Russellville, Kathy Ramsey of Signal Mountain, Tenn., and Susan Crossman
of Oceanside, Calif.; one son, Tom Ramsey of Clarksville; and three grandchildren.
The body was cremated.
Billie Ruth Skidgel, a native of Coal Hill, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003,
in Roseville, Calif.
She had resided in the Citrus Heights and Sacramento, Calif., areas for
the past 54 years, was owner and operator of Zell's Cafe in Roseville, Calif.,
for many years, and the widow of Gene Skidgel.
She is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Nina Skidgel, Billie
Jean Skidgel, and Debbie and Skip Barnard; seven grandchildren, Tamara, Scott,
Gregory, Eric, Shawn, Squeaks, and Stefani; and 14 great-grandchildren, Brandi,
Johnathon, Timothy, Alex, Danielle, Nicolas, Kristopher, Briannah, Bradley,
Kayla, Rebecca, Jessica, Jordan and Ryan.
The Celebration of Life service was held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 18,
at Cochrane's Chapel of the Roses in Roseville, Calif. A private burial service
followed.
Don Brown, 91, of Clarksville died Monday, April 21, 2003, at his home.
He was a native of Johnson County, son of the late Thomas Eskew and Anna
Lee Maudie Killough Brown, graduate of Clarksville High School, member of
First Baptist Church and Clarksville Country Club, lifetime member of the
Carpenter's Union, retired in 1971 from Pacific Acoustics in Los Angeles,
Calif., after 20 years of service as general superintendent. He was preceded
in death by his first wife, Ann Mosses Brown.
Survivors include his widow, Bernice Brown; one daughter and son-in-law,
Mike and Caroline Lindner of Portland, Ore.; one stepson and two stepdaughters-in-law,
Joe and Judy Johnston of Clarksville and Linda Johnston of Tampa, Fla.; nine
grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Cherry Street Baptist
Church with Rev. Billy Usery officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Airy Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke
Funeral Home.
E. A. (Pete) Williams, 77, of Chouteau, Okla., died Saturday, April 19,
2003, in Claremore, Okla.
He was a native of Coal Hill, son of the late Edd and Florence Gossett
Williams, grew up and attended Gravel Hill School, and joined the CC camps
at Ozone and in Minnesota. He then served in the U. S. Army during World War
II. He hit the Normandy Beach three days after the invasion, then went across
France with the 90th Infantry to near the German border where he was wounded
for the fifth time. He was awarded three Oak Leaf Clusters and two Purple
Hearts. He was hit by a fifty-caliber bullet that took out his right lung
resulting in his being sent to a hospital in England before spending 11 months
at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the DAV
and was preceded in death by three brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors are his widow, Augusta E. Williams; four sons and daughters-in-law,
Winfred and Pamela Williams of Tulsa, Okla., John R. and Mary Ann Williams
of Inola, Okla., Floyd Dewayne and Lenora Williams of Coweta, Okla., and Wilburn
L. and Theresa Williams of Locust Grove, Okla.; two brothers, Kenneth Williams
of New Boston, Texas, and Garland Williams of Ozark; three sisters, Josie
Horton of Coal Hill, Jenny McAnally of Charleston, and Ruby Tschetter of
Fort Smith; and 12 grandchildren.
Gilbert Junior Dean, 52, of Clarksville died Sunday, April 20, 2003,
at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was self-employed, a Baptist, son of the late Gilbert C. and Barbara
Boele Dean, and was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Dean; and one half-brother,
Walter (Butch) Boele.
Survivors include his widow, Jennifer Matson Dean; two daugh-
ters, Maggie Dean and Tonya Dean, both of Great Bend, Kan.; three sons,
Jeff Dean of Hays, Kan., Jonothan Dean of Wichita, Kan., and Scott Dean of
Aurora, Ohio; one sister, Shirley Dean of Great Bend, Kan.; one brother,
Billy Dean of Wichita, Kan.; and two grandchildren, Kendra Dean and Wyatt
Dean, both of Sumter, S. C.
George Herman Lang, 50, of Clarksville died Thursday, April 17, 2003,
at his home.
He was a former employee of Bright Harvest Sweet Potato, son of the late
Henry Lang, native of Concord, Calif., and graduate of San Jose (California)
High School.
Survivors include his widow, Sue Lang; three daughters, Andrea Lang and
Erika Lang, both of Clarksville, and Shana Grandstaff of Toulemne, Calif.;
mother, Vivian Lang of San Jose, Calif.; and two sisters, Janice Lang of San
Jose, Calif., and Jeanne Lang Reynolds of Belgium.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Hardwicke
Funeral Chapel with Rev. Terry Schlinker officiating.
The body was cremated.
James A. Adams, 68, of Lamar died Friday, April 18, 2003, at Johnson
Regional Medical Center.
He was an Army veteran, Protestant, truck driver, superintendent for
Singer and Precission Pallet Company, and son of the late John A. and Ruth
Carter Adams.
Survivors include his widow, Jackie Rutledge Adams; one niece, Danika
Lyl of Paris; and one great-niece, Brittany Lyl of Paris.
Funeral was at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at Roller-Cox Chapel with
Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Minnow Creek Cemetery.
Lula Bean Schuh, 82, of Clarksville died Monday, April 21, 2003.
She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late Arch and Olsetta
Storms Bean, graduate of Clarksville High School, member of the Church of
Christ, manager of Michie School cafeteria for seven years, manager and dietitian
for the University of the Ozarks cafeteria for 28 years, and past president
of the Business and Professional Women's Club. She was preceded in death by
two brothers, Arvid and Raymond Bean; and two sisters, Jewel Roberts and Neita
Conway.
Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Charles Doty of Lexington,
Ky.; one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Philip (Mary Ann Rowbotham)
Schuh VI of Clarksville; one brother and sister-in-law, Garland and Maxine
Bean of Clarksville; five grandchildren, Tana Blair, Kimberly Casto, Holly
Doty, Paula Talley, and John Schuh VII; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel
with Rev. Fay Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Mack Yates, 88, of Clarksville died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at Clarksville
Convalescent Home.
He was a son of the late Lorenzo and Maude Acord Yates, Baptist, and
retired Eureka Brick and Tile Company employee.
Survivors are his widow, Edith Vire Yates; four daughters and three sons-in-law,
Glenda and Lee Zeiler of Clarksville, Marcella Langley of Piggott, Wanda
and Bruce Roberts of Arlington, Texas, and Lavella and Jim Hale of Russellville;
one brother, Herla Yates of Oark; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, April 21, at the Woodland Baptist Church
with Rev. Micheal Sawyer, Rev. Sam Howell, and Rev. Clyde Vire officiating.
Burial was in Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral

Rinthie Yates, 90, of Wichita, Kan., formerly of Johnson County, died
Wednesday, April 16, 2003.
She was retired after 20 years of service with Sedgwick County Schools
as a cafeteria employee, previously Wolfe's Cafeteria, former Oark cafeteria
employee, member of Sunnyside Baptist Church, the Bible Alive.Com Sunday school
class, former toddler and nursery teacher for many years at Hillside Baptist
Church, member of Ivy Leaf Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, widow
of Grover Yates, and was preceded in death by an infant son; one daughter,
Eula M. Davis; son-in-law, Marion Laverty; four brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Margie and Jimmie Carter
of Leesburg, Ga., Artie Laverty of Mesquite, Texas, and Bill Davis of Wichita,
Kan.; sister and brother-in-law, Edith and Mack Yates of Clarksville; six
grandchildren, Kathy Young, Teresa Gleason, Dawna Raper, Ronnie Carter, Carroll
Dorminey, Stephanie Carter; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services were at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Resthaven Mortuary and
Cemetery in Wichita, Kan.
Sheila Edwards, 55, of Ozark, sister of Vanessa Hawkins of Coal Hill,
died Saturday, April 12, 2003, in a Little Rock hospital.
She was a native of England, inspector for the United States Department
of Agriculture, a Pentecostal, and was preceded in death by two brothers,
Kenny and Gary Skinner.
She is survived by one daughter, Kelly Ramsey of Humnoke; one son, Robbie
Edwards of Altus; parents, Cloy and Earline Ryan Skinner of Altus; one other
sister, Wendy Sheppard of Ozark; one brother, Allen Skinner of Altus; and
five grandchildren.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, at The Lighthouse Church in
Ozark with Rev. Robin Hood and Kevin Nobles officiating.
Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral
Home of Ozark.
