
Berta Willis, 98, of Haskell, Okla., died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000.
She was a native of Wayton, daughter of the late Allen and Nellie James
Henderson, former resident of the Clarksville area, and was preceded in
death by one brother, Ertl Henderson; and one sister, Orpha Hodges.
Survivors include one sister, Juanita Shockley of Haskell, Okla.; and
several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were at the Minnow Creek Cemetery under
the direction of Dowdy Funeral Home.
Carol Ann Phillips, 49, of Hartman died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at her
home.
She was a native of Los Angeles, Calif., daughter of the late William
Scott, attended Hartman, Clarksville and Oark schools, a student at OSU,
member of NAWIC and ABATE, and was preceded in death by one son, Blake
Deaver.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Phillips; two daughters, Courtney
Deaver of Austin, Texas, and Casey Mallette of Biloxi, Miss.; mother, Delores
Harlan of Lamar; one sister, Martha Argo of Lamar; four brothers, Howard
Scott of Los Angeles, Calif., Bill Scott of Fort Worth, Texas, Pat Scott
of Walters, Okla., and George Scott of Branard, Minn.; and two grandchildren,
Kirsty and Paige Mallette.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.
The body will be cremated.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Jessie J. Handley Walton, 77, of Missouri, sister of Carolyn Jane Handley
of Knoxville and Kathryn Martin of Clarksville, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000.
A native of Dewar, Okla., she was a daughter of the late Grover and
Easter Nuckalls Handley, widow of Charles Walton, and affiliated with the
Methodist Church.
She is survived by three children; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;
one great-great-grandchild; one other sister; one brother; and numerous
cousins.
The body will be cremated and the cremains will be buried at Mineral Point, Mo.

Mamie L. Manning, 80, of Van Buren, sister of Daniel Elam of Knoxville,
died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith.
She was a daughter of the late Will and Lennie Harlas Elam, widow of
William Joseph Manning, retired employee of OK Foods in Fort Smith, Baptist,
and was preceded in death by one son, Bill R. Manning; two sisters, Dora
Mae Wurst and Linda Louise Whorton; and one brother, Ray Elam.
She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Sumner of Lincoln and Lillian
Storment of Van Buren; one other brother, Richard Elam of San Diego, Calif.;
11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev.
Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Knoxville Cemetery.
Mildred Ruth Wilson, 82, of Ozone died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Ozone.
She was affiliated with the Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Wilson; one daughter, Joyce Anderson
of Washington; three sons, Eugene Lemon of Washington, Phillip Lemon of
California, and Michael Wilson of Kentucky; one brother, Dick McCarley
of Oregon; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under
the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Schriners Children Hospital in Portland, Ore.
Wallace Odell Webb, 67, of Clarksville died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000,
at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired employee of Ford Motors, Army veteran, Baptist, son
of the late William Eugene Webb and Martha Crowder Webb, and was preceded
in death by two sisters, Marie Poteete and Betty Winters; and one brother,
Hughie Lee Webb.
Survivors include his widow, Mary Ella Gregg Webb; one daughter and
sister-in-law, Tamara Lynn and George Paul Geels of Scranton; one son,
William Eugene Webb of Clarksville; three sisters, Wilma Harness of Jefferson,
Lorne Haynes of Star City, and Evelyn Loftess of Heber Springs; and one
grandchild, Ashlyn Nichole.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at Roller-Cox Chapel with
Rev. Bob Featherston officiating. Military services and burial will be
at Prairie View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Webb, Ralph Watkins, Dewie Watkins, John Watkins,
Ronnie Green, and James Herpels.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
