Mrs. Alta Bruner, 86, of Ozark died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at St. Edward
Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.
A former Johnson County resident, she was a native of Liberty, Texas, daughter
of the late John Frank and Valetta Quinn Bentley, widow of Roland Bruner,
and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sisters, Donie Polk of Ozone, Lucy Martens of
Tomball, Texas, and Ruth Harding of Cuero, Texas; several nieces; several
nephews; one aunt, Faye Taylor of Benton, Texas; and one cousin, Don Bentley
of Houston, Texas.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, March 13, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with
Rev. Jan Akins officiating. Burial was in Lone Pine Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Seldon Russell, Mary Russell, Don Eskelson, JoAnn Reed,
Johnny Brison, Louise Fullbright, and Heath Reed.
Byron Joseph Persons, 59, of Clarksville died Wednesday, March 8, 2000,
at his home.
He was a son of the late Rayburn and Gertrude Persons, Baptist, Army veteran,
and an employee of the Wal-Mart Company.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Viola Miller Persons; one daughter, Katrina
Persons of California; five sons, Larry Persons of California, Gary Persons,
Mike Persons, and Rayburn Persons, all of Arizona, and Timothy Persons
of Dardanelle; two sisters, Beverly Persons and Brenda Persons, both of
New York; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Bradley and Helen Persons
and Brandt Persons of New York, and Bernard Persons of Arizona; and nine
grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 13, at Roller-Cox Chapel
with Cindy Short officiating.
Cecil Bradley Sr., 95, of Clarksville died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at
Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Edward and Settie Blair Bradley, member of Second
Baptist Church, deputy sheriff in 1925, retired school teacher and from
real estate after 25 and 29 years, respectively, Mason for 75 years-plus,
32nd Scottish Rite of Belle Grove Lodge No. 410, Royal Arch Mason of Clarksville
Chapter No. 49, past master of Belle Grove Chapter 56 Order of Eastern
Star, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Bradley and Archie
Bradley.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Helen Maxine Haley Bradley; four sons,
Cecil Bradley Jr., Edward Bradley Sr., and Donald Bradley, all of Clarksville,
and Wayne Bradley of Russellville; two stepdaughters, Venda Robinette of
Hot Springs and Marlene Farrior of Farmville, N. C.; ten grandchildren;
14 great-grandchildren; ten stepgrandchildren; 19 stepgreat-grandchildren;
and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, at the Second Baptist Church in
Clarksville with Rev. Joe Craft and Dr. Robert Brown officiating.
Masonic graveside services and burial were at Ozone Cemetery under the
direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Bill Coats, Nap Felkins, C. O. Blackard, Marvin
Vinson, James Crumrine, and Herb Stalcup.
Mason members served as honorary pallbearers.

Charles (Chuck) Craig, 61, of Chula Vista, Calif., formerly of Clarksville,
died Saturday, March 11, 2000, in California.
He was a former employee of Oklahoma Tire and Supply in Clarksville for
several years, son of the late Charles Lyon Craig, and was preceded in
death by one son, Charles Billy Craig.
Survivors include his mother, Lorene Lakes of Chula Vista, Calif.; one
sister, Judy Craig of Chula Vista, Calif.; one granddaughter, Christina
Craig Mc Alexander of Perryville; one great-grandchild, Courtney Marie
Mc Alexander of Perryville; one niece; and one nephew.
Funeral will be Friday, March 17, in Chula Vista, Calif.
Howard T. Jones, 78, of Clarksville died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at Countryside
Manor Nursing Home.
He was a native of Hartman and son of the late Jiles and Lee Warren Jones
but was raised by his sister and brother-in-law, Emma and Arthur Martin,
following the death of his parents. He attended Hartman Schools, was a
Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Marshall Islands, retired
automobile mechanic with the Chevrolet-Oldsmobile company, member of the
First United Methodist Church, 50-year member of Franklin Masonic Lodge
No. 9 and 50-year member of Scottish Rite Consistory of Fort Smith.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Onella Laneer Jones; two sons and one
daughter-in-law, Neal and Kathryn Jones of Clarksville and Tom Jones of
Little Rock; two sisters, Faye Martin of Russellville and Tennie Marie
Dille of Sherwood; three grandchildren, Adam Jones of Russellville and
Christopher Jones and Lauren Jones, both of Clarksville; three nieces;
and four nephews.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at the First United Methodist
Church with Rev. Lowell Eaton officiating.
Masonic graveside services by Franklin Lodge No. 9 and burial were at Woodland
Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Levon Stumbaugh, Bobby Lewis, Ken Miller, Johnny
Robinson, Bruce Phillips, and Bobby Dayne Phillips.
Honorary pallbearers were Mart Stepp, Gerald Vaught, and members of Franklin

Mrs. Katherine Hinkle Terhune, 98, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, in a Rome,
Ga., health care center.
She was a native of Sheltonham, Pa., daughter of the late Henry R. and
Kate Spear Hinkle, widow of George Terhune, former resident of Long Island
and Sarasota, Ga., member of the Pineshores Presbyterian Church, and was
preceded in death by one son, William Terhune.
She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Marguerite Barnes Terhune of Rome,
Ga.; two granddaughters and spouses, Barbara and Phil Auram of Kellen,
Texas, and Nancy and Tom Thayer of Flowery Branch, Ga.; one grandson, Steve
Terhune of Missoula, Mont.; and three great-grandchildren, Josie Erin Terhune,
Kyle Thomas Thayer, and Jenna Kate Thayer.
Graveside services and burial were at 1 p.m. Monday, March 6, at Sarasota
Memorial Park with Dr. Arnold Poole officiating. Arrangements were under
the direction of Daniel's Funeral Home.
Norman Leon Little, 77, of Borger, Texas, father of Richard Little of Lamar,
died Friday March 10, 2000, at Amarillo, Texas.
He was a native of Vaughn, former resident of Albuquerque, N. M., Purple
Heart veteran of the U. S. Army, retired as an x-ray technician for Golden
Plains Community Hospital in 1972, and was preceded in death by his wife,
Mrs. Gladys Little.
He is survived by one other son, Wally Little of Amarillo, Texas; one brother,
Jack Little of Bellingham, Mass.; several grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, March 13, at Trinity Church of the Nazarene
in Borger, Texas, with Rev. Ron Ellington, pastor, officiating.
Burial was in The Garden of Devotion at Westlawn Memorial Park under the
direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger, Texas.
Active pallbearers were Steve Rea, Bob Hebard, Bud Eldredge, Gary Helton,
Arvin Phillips, and Rusty Rankin.
Honorary pallbearers were Hervie Payne and Leon Mills.
Raymond Norman Hebert, 77, of Clarksville died Thursday, March 2, 2000,
at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Dover, N. H., son of the late Ernest and Laura Marion
Hebert, member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and a retired contractor.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Evie Hebert; one son, Norman Hebert of
Texarkana, Texas; one sister, Theresa Grenier of Somersworth, N. H.; one
brother, Roland Hebert of Dover, N. H.; two grandchildren, Chad Hebert
and Tara Farmer, both of Texarkana, Texas; and one great-grandchild, Tia
Farmer of Texarkana, Texas.
The body was donated to the University of Arkansas School of Medical Sciences.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Ronald Kenneth Singer, 52, of Clarksville died Thursday, March 9, 2000,
at his home.
He was a native of Le Mars, Iowa, son of the late Elmer Leonard and Evelyn
Schiltz Singer, carpenter, attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, and
was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Gengler.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lorna Singer; one daughter, Robin Singer
of Sioux City, Iowa; two sons, Robert Kenneth Singer of Dakota City, Neb.,
and John Singer of Winnebago, Neb.; one sister, Dorothy Falk of Scottsdale,
Ariz.; two brothers, Bill Singer of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Steve Singer
of Dakota City, Neb.; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with
Rev. Kenny Preston officiating.
Pallbearers were Terry Singer, Jim Singer, Doug Gengler, Curt Singer, Bob
Falk, and Dave Hudson.
The body was cremated.
