Into the Wind

It has been said that a journey begins
With but a single step
And so today is a new beginning
And yet today is fleeting
And yesterday is gone
Now is being blown away
Eroded into the wind
Time rushes past
Headlong into Eternity
Its passing hardly known
What is begun is soon ended
Engaged in pursuits of living
Planting roots, digging deeper
To plant again
Into this fragile soil
Day into night
Night into day
Children come as old folks go
The earth spins faster and faster
A day, a nod
A year, a wink
All said and done
Before a blink of eye
And now here I stand
On the brink of Eternity
The same old dogged question
Never answered:
--After this, what will I find?
Who will remember
That I have come and gone?
Will I?
