Dreams and Fantasies

Dreams are favorite wishes that we take with us to sleep
And those fond desires that in our secret hearts we keep
Dreams are those sweet possibilities just out of sight
Thoughts, plans and schemes that may just turn out right

Fantasies, however, are those silly other things
Those impossibilities that lie beyond our favorite dreams
Those never-can-live-up-to-it's that make us very sad
Those don't-think-we-could-do-it's, and that is really bad

A fantasy just can't come true, it's never like it you think
Reality that bites you, when a smell turns to a stink
And visions of sweet loveliness turn into nightmare hags
And Cinderella's ball gown is a pile of filthy rags
Her carriage is a rotting pile of smelly garden refuse
The mices that were horses, are just vermin on the loose

I think that we can be a team, a pair of loving friends
As long as it is dreaming that we do, and that depends
On whether or not you're looking for a dream or fantasy
Or someone who will love you (in that case, you can have ME).
