The silken cord

What is this cord that binds me
With silken rainbow thread?
Sweetly perfumed clouds of love's
Seduction, a compelling fog
That drives from out my head
Confusing, scattered thoughts
A golden light that blinds me
While reason yet reminds me
How tomorrow finds me
Lonely, filled with sad regret
And yet... strong magnetic forces
Greater than the force of will
And stronger still than logic's sway
A promise pulls me in...to stay...
Until that harsh reality of day...
When heaven fades away...
The silken cord is loosed...
And lonely hell is left to pay.
