SUNSET AT LAKE DARDANELLE

Sunset on the water...
Blue and pink across the sky
Through the haze, a blazing ball
Sinks slowly through pastel clouds
Into the horizon, laying down
A path of gold across the waves,
A gull circles in the sky,
A fisherman's boat rocks
Silently, silhouetted
Against the sun and clouds beyond,
And, as the sun sinks lower,
And finally disappears,
Leaving only twilight memory,
Ducks and geese settle down
For a peaceful night's sleep
In their restless, watery hotel,
A fish jumps, startling the silence,
You reach for my hand
And my heart is filled with joy
For all that I have seen
And for all that I feel...
